Y'all being too rough on Kobeni tho, she didn't know Denji and the situation was tense, everyone was gonna die if they didn't come up with a plan, and were seriously close to dying until Denji said "fuck it, imma turn chainsaw and torture it". Asides from sacrificing him or having Aki use his sword ( which Himeno didn't want ), it was either that or death. She was annoying as fuck tho ngl Also the way to defeat the Eternity Devil was said in the previous episode, it feels pain, so imagine being torn to shreds by chainsaws for 3 whole days. Despite being essentially immortal in there, it wanted to die and offered its heart for Denji to destroy it, and essentially rid it of its torture.

I don't think she drugged him, exactly. Remember, she had been drinking heavily, then threw alllll that up directly into his mouth... which he swallowed. Man drank secondhand alcohol, and some of it probably hit his system before he could barf it back out. Add the fact he's a kid who has never HAD alcohol before, coupled with barfing for god knows how long which probably dehydrated him to hell and back, its no wonder he'd be a bit outa it.

This is WONDERFUL anime adaptation and peak *modern* shounen as far as I am concerned. Not saying its the greatest thing since sliced bread, so don't feel like I'm attacking anyone else's favorite show. I'm just saying this is something exceptionally well done. Now, as a manga reader, I didn't fall in love with CSM until much later in Part 1, though I was always enjoying myself reading through it's craziness and experiencing it's unique brand of melancholy and nihilism. That being said, MAPPA took arcs I felt were 3.5 maybe 4 out of 5, and turned it into solid 4.5-5 level episodes. The 'cinematography', the editing, the Kensuke Ushio soundtrack, the voice acting, and of course the animation are all top notch. But what's even better, is the directing. Knowing what parts of the manga to cut down on or minimize (and there haven't been an abundance of that, to be fair) and omit, as well as knowing which parts to focus on, extend, lengthen, and add emphasis, too. It makes the action kinetic and blood thirsty, the devils deranged and chaotic, the 'coming-of-age' and slice of life elements almost sublime, etc. This episode was wild. No two ways about it. But next episode? Whew. Can't wait.

But since denji noticed it afraid of pain he decided to hurt it until it wanted to die. And this episode we find out it took 3 days+ how ever long they were in before. The original play was to just sacrifice denji but his idea was to just fight until he couldnt anymore. That coupled with the fact that he had infinite chainsaw time because he drinking the demons blood, culminated into torture for the demon. By the third day the demon was done and just wanted to die so he wouldnt get cut up anymore.

The Comprehension Devil strikes again. Eternity Devil feared Denji and his chainsaws, which is why it tried to get the group to kill Denji, rather than face him head on. If you listen throughout both episodes, the devil is emphatically expressing how much pain he is in. So yes, while simple minded, Denji was the only one who could fight long and hard enough, to push the devil to the point of wanting to die. Which is why it took an entire 3 days to kill the Devil. No regular devil hunter could fight for 3 days straight, which is why they informed that Denji is able to sustain himself off of the devils blood alone. One of those fights where the strategy is basic, but it takes a specific circumstance and character to be able to pull it off.
