Mogamett is indeed a very complicated character lol

People like to throw the words good and bad around too much. Mogamett literally suffered a mental breakdown under the previous rulers. This has gone past the point of hate, his mind literally fractured and placed non magicians into the lowest class of animals. He literally keeps them like farm animals as a source of rukh because that's all he sees them as. "Evil" as people like to say willy nilly is someone taking pleasure out of the unwilling suffering others. Mogamett doesn't gain pleasure from non magicians suffering but he can't empathize with them simply because he's mentally broken and doesn't see them as worthwhile creatures.

In all seriousness though, people comparing Mogamett to Hitler or an oppressor probably didn't pay much attention at all to what both Mogamett and the goi underground said and just want a reason to hate him ( cause its easier than understanding his point ). He doesn't like them, but he's not turning them into slaves or torturing them, there are even goi outside who work and participate in government affairs, most of the goi underground want to live there as its been said various times, it sucks that the kids are stuck down there, but again like the Director said: Sure we'll send them up, but are you going to take care of them? Its literally the same shit with adoption, so many kids are suffering in orphanages and we can't just "take them all out of there, as much as it sucks. Magicians are severely oppressed in Magi, and he's just one man who managed to turn the odds to their favor and create a country for them. Yeah sure he's planning on getting funds out of importing weapons created by them ( which is fucking smart, again, Mognasdtadt is a small country, they need to gain funds somehow ), if the goi decide to fuck themselves up with said weapons then that's on them, what he's doing is no different than the creation & exportation of other types of weapons various countries create for the sake of war. Mogamett is practically just a worried dad who wants to leave his 'kids' with a country they wouldn't be oppressed in, and Kou & Reim proved him right that the gois are unhinged and want world domination ( even if scheherazade is a Magi, she acts for the interest of gois ).

I think that whole "try to escape and everyone in the section is killed" thing is enforced by magicians other than Mogamett. We even saw how that magician with the whip was abusing the people down there. With Mogamett he basically doesn't care what happens to the gois so he allows the magicians to do whatever they want with them. He's basically allowing evil to happen to the gois.

@Grelk definitely not. Oppressing people that haven't done any harm to you is definitely a bad thing. Just cause a certain individual treated you one way doesn't mean you condemn the group/race that they're apart of.

Not really because in this case they believe they are superior to goi, the hatians never enslaved thous who made them slaves, they had to have a whole orientation to manipulate peolpe to seeing their way is right, facist propoganda, u dont need a whole class to explain why enslaving people is ok, if your not a bunch of people who want control cuz they belive they are better.

There's a big difference between Magicians and Eldians tho. Magicians are mistreated like most people in the world are. Unless you forgot about all the various slaves we've come across and the presumed many we haven't. Or the general peasantry who have things slightly better. At the end of it all nobody will be out to eradicate all magicians. And there's also the fact that at the heart of a LOT of these hateful scenarios are people actively cultivating them. It can be said very easily that without them the world would be better (not perfect, but definitively better). On the other hand Eldians are hated everywhere they aren't completely in control, and will most assuredly be wiped out at such time as their abilities are outclassed by modernization. Eren has to choose between two annihilations (and he empathizes with both). Mogamett has a completely standard kneel or be made to situation. The only way they're similar is if you get all the facts wrong and focus on a very uninformed "us or them" conclusion they both come to.

I am finding it very funny that the OST in this show is as distracting as it is. Flute players going rogue, guitar solos during sad scenes, and sometimes just loud music overall during dialogue scenes.
