Doubtful, his name is Vasily so if anything he'd be based on the Russian sniper, but this is a different era than ww2, it's pre-ww1

He was the dude that had a sniper battle with Ogata when he was with Asirpa, Kiroranke, and Shiraishi. That's why he shot at Shiraishi cause he recognized him from before.

That intro was pretty hype. I did love that Pillar Man-esque shit that was going on with the three mystery men at the end. Epic.

Heads up. There's 4 OVA episodes that you guys oughta see. Honestly, they aren't even filler because the events of the episodes happened in the manga and they're pretty good. Russian guy and Ogata had a whole Sniper episode to themselves and Ogata won the battle shooting the guy clear across his face, bullet into one cheek and out the other, probably damaged his tongue and broke his teeth. And yeah Kadokura has that Danganronpa Ultimate Lucky Student power. Bad luck that translates to good luck in certain situations without him really knowing he was fortunate.

The sniper was the Russian sniper Ogata shot thru the jaw at the border halfway in S3. He's probably based on the real life Finnish sniper Simo Häyhä who was a WWII sniper.

This isn't a big deal but what Shiraishi was shouting out as crossing the border was "Abayo, Russia!" Literally it means "Bye Russia!" The translation "we're rushin' outta Russia" of course sounded out of nowhere

I wonder if all his bad luck is actually good luck. He's 'unlucky' but it might be preventing a much worse outcome. He slipped (bad luck) but would've been worse if they didn't (so good luck?)

Yeah there's this outlook that says there is really no such thing in the world as "Good Luck" or "Bad Luck" but at the same time there is "good" and "bad" luck but they're occurring at the exact same time in a ride range affecting many people without them realizing it and if they're aware of it, they'll have a small minded perception of it based on their experience.

Man I love this show i missed it so much it has this absolutely unique vibe and environment and the character dynamics are all goated. It feels like golden kamuy is tailored for my anime taste and I think golden kamuy is my favourite anime and I only watched it because of you guys thanks so much I'm looking forward to watching this season with you LETS GOOOO!

If u like silly dark-ish humor and great characters/character dynamics go watch it but overall this show gets better and better every season and you fall in love with every single character. Actually fuck it watch it anyways this show is so goated but sadly it's popularity is locked behind a slow 1st season and in general it beeing set in a "historic" event kinda makes u think it has no real appeal so it seems slow but man this show is my favourite anime and I only discovered it through roshi and shira's reactions. In short: YES WATCH IT.
