So here’s the thing about Alicent, she’s not salty just because her dad got removed as hand. If you ask me, this may be a very unpopular opinion, she’s really done nothing wrong. She was raised to be a lady and follow the rules, Otto isn’t that lenient of a parent like Viserys so she can’t finesse like Rhaenyra. She gets married, has kids, most of which are male ,which the realm prefers, and does her duty as a lady and queen despite not having that much joy in doing so. She constantly goes to bat for rhaenyra, even when she hates her for getting with her dad. And when Otto tells her to convince Viserys to name Aegon heir, she continues to tell Viserys he made the right decision in rhaenrya. Even when her father rats Rhaenyra out she lets her know in advance and asks for the truth and what does she do? She not only lies Alicent but lies on the memory of her dead mother. Alicent has done nothing but support her, even when people say that there will be war and Rhaenyra will kill her children to strengthen her position. Then she’s confronted with the truth and after everything she’s done she no longer believes she can trust Rhaenyra. I mean would you trust someone wouldn’t try to kill you and your family if they can lie on a dead parent they claim to love? And it doesn’t end with Rhaenyra. She continues to have children that are obviously bastards, and everyone seems to turn a blind eye. Rhaenyra just keeps lying and violating the politics at court and I think it’s understandable that she’d be fed up after all of this.

in all seriousness, OBJECTIVELY Alicent is correct. Despite the salt and pettiness, she is correct in making these allegations because if its true about Rhaenyra and Harwin, then the 3 "heirs" are technically bastards, a similar situation like in Game of Thrones with Cersei's children. Just like how Ned Stark found out and made the "right but bad" move in denying Joffrey the throne and instead, claimed Stannis to be the next rightful heir. In this case, yes Alicent is both salty about the whole situation with Rhaenyra lying literally on the soul of her mother and shes also afraid that her children would be in danger since sooner or later, somebody will deny Rhaenyra and say Aegon 2 is more fit to rule and then blood may be spilled. But at the end of the day, Rhaenyra has fucked up way too many times. She pushed the limits of her father and everyone else for far too long. She and Daemon are 2 peas in a pod. All they gotta do is their duty and bam, they couldve gotten the throne with no problems. But they somehow stir shit up by themselves and gives others an opportunity to strike them down.

Alicent is mad because rhaenyra and her were starting to be friends again, then rhaenrya swore on her mom that she did nothing with daemon and that she was innocent, but it wasnt true and she advocated to have Alicents father removed as hand, thats a better reason to be upset then being forced to become the kings wife when he caught feelings after you read him some books. I feel alot of the alicent hate stems from being biased towards rhaenyra, even though rhaenyra just acts as she pleases showing not much consideration for anything else, she impulsive where as alicent is more reactive.

Not *quite* the same as the situation with Robert Baratheon's bastards and Cersei/Jaime's kids. The issue with Joffrey and Tommen is that they didn't have any of the crown king's blood, Robert's blood. They were pure Lannister. Rhaneyra, on the other hand, will be the crown queen and she is obviously very much her sons mother. So they're bastards, but not to the extent that Joffrey and Tommen were.

I don't think Daemon would have done what Viserys did. He seemed to shake his head, no, ever so slightly. In 'Fire and Blood', Daemon is quite a bit more rounded as a character. He grieves openly for his wife (whom he AND Rhaenyra adored) if I remember correctly, and is very fond of his daughters. Apparently they have leaked photos of him comforting and hugging his daughters that they didn't include for some reason? Not sure about this more emotionally reserved and nebulous direction, though Matt Smith still kills the roll and steals the show every time he's on screen. As a side note, happy brithday! Bruh I don't think you understand how politics work in Westeros. Bastards have no claim to anything. They are seen as dirty and treacherous. So it doesn't matter that they are her full blooded kids they still should not inherit anything. The only way would be if they were legitimized by the King (like what happened with Ramsay). But that would mean that she admitted to having 3 bastards. You also have to remember that Westeros is very religious and infidelity specifically by a wife is VERY BAD (doesn't matter if they are the queen or princess). As is homosexuality so they can't just come out and explain that Laenor is gay. And it's because of all this that Alicent is scared of Rhaenera. Aegon isn't her cousin he is her younger half brother, He technically has a better claim than her because he is the Kings first born son (the only thing saving her is the king refusing to un-name her). His claim is better than her bastard sons. Who should have the last name crown, not Targaryen (again they would have to be legitimized to get the last name Targaryen). Also it was Joffrey who gave the order to kill Roberts bastards because there were rumors (true ones) that he himself was a bastard and not Roberts son. Meaning he has no claim to the throne whatsoever. While its true that Rhaeneras kids do have some claim to it theirs is not stronger than the direct trueborn son of the king. Even if they weren't bastards Aegon has a strong claim to it.

I understand Alicents perspective. All of Rhaenyra's kids are bastards meaning they aren't actually in line for the throne. Aegon is currently the true heir to the throne after Rhaenyra. Alicent is salty because A) It is somewhat implied that she had feelings for rhaenera when they were younger, even the actress has said that she sees her as a very closeted woman. On top of caring for her as a friend. B) She is somewhat jealous of Rhaeneras freedom as she was made by her father to get close to the king (if you think she could have refused then you simply can't read the subtext of her and her fathers relationship, also in this universe you don't just refuse your parents, especially when they are lords.) C) After the Daemon incident she vouched for Her to the king and trusted what she said. Only to then have her father (and her only lifeline in the court, as she expressed feeling alone and vulnerable). And then as her fathers leaving he puts in plain words for her that there will be a war and your children could be killed for Rhaeneras safety. (at some point, especially as a mother you have to think about your children.) While yes she's over the top she's seeing how rhaenera was not taking ruling seriously. Also your watching this like its just a soap opera, its a soap opera with politics involved (and their lives on the line) so its not just about their own feelings.

While I do think she is salty and making decisions based upon it, I disagree in that she HAS been worried for the fate of her kids, she has shown that she does cares for Halena and Aemon, and she made it very clear to Aegon that there is a real possibility that he will be killed. I also disagree that rhaenyra has been doing what's best for her rule. if she did she wouldn't have had 3 bastards. 1 maybe but 3 is overkill. Not to mention she antagonized the lannisters, who are twats but its not a good idea for your rule to tick off one of the richest families in the kingdom. I'll add that Alicent may also dislike Rhaenyra because she has a history of being untrustworthy and lacking integrity. They were friends and when she approached her about her behavior she openly lied about her chastity, then Rhaenyra had her father removed as hand in retaliation/protection. She's also broken her duty towards producing strong succession. You can't play the fence in the Game of Thrones. You are either all in, or you remove yourself from ambition. Otherwise you'll end up dead. If Rhae keeps playing like this, she'll pull a Robb Stark. He broke agreements and made dumb moves too.

Again Aegon and anyone in his line will always be a threat because they are males and by all laws and customs of westeros (except dorne) they should be the ones inheriting the throne. The only reason Rhaenyra is getting it is because if Viscerys (who i do agree with in that it should go to the first born regardless of gender.) So there would not be a point in her trying to help strengthen Rhaenyras claim. Also Alicent did break the trust in the first place but we were shown that she tried to mend it multiple times, especially when she really did not have a choice (she hoped Rhaenyra would understand) And the Rhaenyra as Alicent see is snaked her and got her father (her only real support at that time) fired. Alicent being salty goes back to when Rhanyra Lied to her about having sex and "sullying herself" and because of it she backed rhanyras claim to not have done so, which was in direct contrast to her father's reports. He then got kicked out because both Lady Alicent and Rhanyra made pretty compelling arguments towards the King with rhanyra adding the part about Otto being self interested (which is completely true). Lady Alicent did so in believing her dear friend who she believed was honorable and truthful, and therefore her Father (rightly so) was to be the hand of the king NO MORE. Lady Alicent didnt expect/want this outcome, she naively just wanted to back her friend. And the fact that she learned about the Plan B TEA that Rhanyra took sent by the king made her believe that Rhanyra lied and manipulated her to aid her cause and the King fucking knew it and didn't care (very unfair from her POV). Now because of her, Otto, her father is there NO MORE. So in her eyes the Rhanyra, who was her best friend, Her ONLY friend lied to her and got her pops kicked out. Plus Otto at the end, when He left told her to stop being so FUCKING naive & be realistic, Either Look out for yourself and push for Aegon to be King or PRAY FOR HER MERCY, cuz if not Rhanyra will put your kids to the sword in claiming the throne (im paraphrasing).
