Not to justify incest but in all truths, Targaryans fucking each other had meaning. Their blood contains magic and power. Thats one of the reasons why they decide to marry close bloodlines in order to preserve their power. And to make sure the power of House Targaryan continues to be strong and not fall into the hands of another house

Fun fact, but Targaryens aren't actually immune to fire. Neither is Daenerys (at least in the books). George R. R. Martin described Daenerys surviving the burn pyre at the end of Season 1 of Game of Thrones as "an actual miracle". It's just that, after Martin left the show after Season 4, the showrunners made the decision to actually give Daenerys fire resistance as a superpower. It's just one of the many ways the showrunners messed up in the later seasons of GOT.

Also, Ser Criston is a Kingsguard, forbidden from marriage or romance. So formality wise, he can't marry the Princess. I love that Lyonel Strong disagreed that his son Harwin would be the best match for Rhaenyra when he was talking to the king, suggesting Laenor Velaryon instead. But then his son is THE ONE DUDE in camp to smile at bloodied Rhaenyra returning with the boar, while everyone else was giving her “wtf” looks - Lyonel himself and his other son weren’t looking too impressed either lmao. Politically, Harwin wouldn’t have been the best match (Velaryons are much richer/more powerful), but dude was liking what he saw and would’ve been nice to see them together lol

yeah Daemon was more upset about how after 2-3yrs fighting a problem that shouldve been resolved when it was initially brought to him. he FINALLY wants to send help. and then claim the victory for "US" nah fuck that lol . Viserys may be a decent guy but he is an awful king trying to avoid any type of conflict no matter how urgent. Even in the beginning when tyland lannister try to let him know how urgent the matter is bro really said "its been 3yrs, they can wait another 3 days" if i was daemon and i found that out. i wouldve cleaved his shit. thats why you lost two fingers headass. Lupa, just ignore the name man. Even if you saw someone with the same name of a person in GoT, it is because they had the same name. Many Targaryen characters had the same name as their ancestors. The Mad King Aerys is Aerys II and should Jon Snow ascend the Iron Throne, he will be Aegon VI.

Imagine irl, a general started a battle against North Korea without telling the President or the rest. Agreed. Daemon is trying to establish himself as much as Rhaenyra wants to. He'd rather die than have his brother save his cause. Now he has a story/feat to establish himself as a "hero" and worthy ruler, even though the majority of the war he was fucking up. People only remember the ending.

I actually like it better. I never really liked the characters in GOT that much. Don't get me wrong, the writing was very good, but I never had favorites among the characters. But here, its 3 episodes and I'm already so much invested in Daemons and Rhaenyras story.

Visery's is without question a king that presents weakness. Did not know that Laenor devised that plan. Daemon comes off as an agitator and a reactionist at times. I think I would still want Visery's over Daemon. To be honest they did go against the crowns wishes and took up fighting in the Step Stones with their own houses. Now if there's no blowback from this Corly's was right in the end.

Literally watched all of Game of Thrones, so I could watch House of the Dragon with you'll lmao. Good timing too because apparently there's 4 other GOT spin offs coming out as well. Overall GOT peaked seasons 1 - 4 for me. Those 4 season were really fucking good. The rest wasn't bad in any means, but the ending SUCKED. That was my mini review, But anyways good shit, glad I'm all caught up.

In the book the Triarchy army is supposed to be massive and backed by some of the most powerful people in the Free Cities. They have a much larger force than what Daemon and Corlys have. Plus it wasn't really highlighted but Corlys is no longer Master of Ships and was either removed or he left the council. So it essentially could be seen as an even fight with the 5 or 6 thousand guys Daemon and Corlys have against an army that is double or triple their size and fighting on their own turf. The dragons being the equalizer in the war. It also could have been worse. If I remember correctly the war lasts for 5 or 6 years in Fire and Blood.

Viserys is surprisingly the most interesting (if not most necessarily the dynamic) character for me *because* of who he is and the tragedy of his nature. To paraphrase a discussion I had elsewhere: Daemon, Rhaenyra, Otto, Corlys - these are all strong willed individuals capable and eager to make bold moves to get what they want. Viserys is a man of half-hearted measures, a reluctant ruler, a kind king but not a strong one. As such, he is destined to please ~no one~ in his attempts to appease ~everyone~. He is very much largely responsible for the current state of affairs throughout the realm and yet… when he passes, all that will be left in the realm are seemingly people of ambition and power willing to make BOLD CHOICES. For those who know, they know. So, in a way, this passive and incapable king is actually the only thing keeping the current peace even as he adds fuels to the eventual fire that’ll spring up once he passes. It’s beautiful.

Also, Aegon being Jon's name is show only. In the book it hasn't been revealed yet what Jon's real name is. It is very likely to be something else, because Rhaegar already had a son named Aegon before Jon was born.

The only thing strange about a Rhaenyra/Aegon betrothal (though not really) is Aegon’s age. Viserys and Daemon’s parents, grandparents and great grandparents were all siblings. She can’t marry Ser Criston because he’s low born but also because he is king’s guard and they aren’t allowed to marry. That’s why Jamie never married (aside from being in love with Cersei). In case you couldn’t tell Crabfeeder had grayscale and was wearing a Sons of the Harpy mask.

I like the idea of Daemon as a character, but I just don't buy Matt Smith as a hotheaded, brutal warrior. But maybe that's just because I'm a Doctor Who fan and can't get his role in that show out of my head when I see him. Setting that aside, this show is great - and so are these reactions. king viserys' parents were brother and sister as were his grandparents. this is SUPER normal to him. the problem was the age BUT it makes sense and is a win win: she wouldnt have to marry him til he was of age (14ish) so that would chill out rhaenyra who doesnt want to marry at all, at least for a few years. and since he is the son of allicent, otto still gets his blood on the throne.
