Daemon wanted his brother to come himself. He was happy when Viserys threatened him last episode. He wants his family members to embody the house words like he does. Fire and Blood. Being fierce and courageous. Another thing is Otto is a manipulative bastard, he easily could have invented the story he told the king about the brothel. There is a long standing theory that the hightowers control the citadel of maesters, for spying and "healing" of lords and their houses. The Citadel is in the Hightowers main city.

house Velaryon is an ancient family that also comes from Valyria, like the Targaryens, but arived on Westeros before them. they were never dragonriders tho and have always been seafarers. because they are the last 2 Valyrian houses they marry eachother a lot so its one big incest family,all with the "silvergold hair" and violet eyes (tho not in the shows) of the ancient Valyrians

The Velaryon's are also from Old Valyria where the Targaryen's are from. They came to Westeros from Valyria 12+ yrs before the Targaryen's. But they were not Dragon Riders until Rhaenys Targaryen married into the family. That is how they are related.

As others have said, Incest was a means to keep bloodlines pure and keep power within said bloodline. The Targaryens were super into it for another reason and that was their Dragons. Targaryens even among other Valyrians had the innate ability to bond with dragons, so its within their best interest to keep that power to themselves.

I’m so interested in seeing their outlook on Daemon and Viserys change and rise and fall throughout the show. Daemon, especially, may be like a more dramatic Zuko arc with them. **spoilers** That’s not to say that Daemon is REMOTELY like Zuko. Lol. Just that the audience tends to find them both off putting initially, then more palatable as time goes on and worse characters are introduced, then they do something egregious to lose trust (betraying Iroh / Blood and Cheese) and then it might be gained back by the end. Idk.

I fully support Daemon. The King is getting played so hard by Otto. We know from GoT that the Hand of the Kings are always crappy. It is basically a position for your biggest enemy, because like they say, "Keep your friends close and your enemies closer." If the Kings are not Wise enough to be cautious of their "Hand" they get backstabbed. This King decides to marry the Hand's daughter, what an absolute fool, lmao.

That showing interest is just seen as disrespect when you are a cup bearer and not a council member. Think of it in modern day... nobody is gonna take shit from an intern walking into a major stock holder board meeting. They are gonna fire your ass... you are there to learn as an intern (on paper at least). The situation is just complicated by the cup bearer also being the princess... she should be learning ruler shit by watching and reading, otherwise she's just like all the knights in the tournament that don't know shit about actual war. As for generating enemies... those people were always potential enemies... and it's hard to be decisive when you know the long winter is coming and you have to figure out the best way to keep everybody united... unfortunately, in this universe nearly every decision, brave or cowardly, leads to some fuckshit somewhere. Especially when even allied houses would jump at a clear opportunity to take the iron throne. Just look at the hand of the king manipulating the information to the King or to Daemon for his own ends... he's already preventing the king from having all the proper details to make the best decision even if he was brave.
