Remember, in this current timeline none of the shadows know about Shin's looping power because he hasn't been copied during this timeline yet (that we know of)! Also, one of my working theories is that OG Ushio originally (somehow) had the looping power, but she failed to stop the festival massacre (her looping time got too short + her dying), and so she gave it to Shinpei. Which could also be why Shadow Ushio, being a "perfect copy" even without all of her memories, is on our side

So ushio was copied 3 days before she died. They mention it briefly on his first loop as a throw away line. Saying she saw her copy when cleaning at the beach then 3 days later she died. So she could have changed her phone password between those 3 days.

Disney+ Jail so the official "source" is in Japanese only... so if you want to watch it with subs, you gotta rely on sailing the high seas with them pirated sites... so usually wait 12-48 hours, maybe a bit earlier once the episode aired in Japan so that Slyfox can upload their fan translation of the anime that is quite accurate compared to the Machine Translated one that comes out earlier than theirs... since this anime uses quite a bit of slang/dialect change to suit the theme... then the pirate site like gogoanime or kissanime or whatever pirated sites out there are would upload them

Okay, here's my theory from the infos we got and from what I've just realized: In the first episode, Shinpei already has the blue eye of Mother. And, his conversation with Ushio was glitching and everything. Finally, we sometimes see another "spectral Shinpei" floating in the sky next to Shinpei himself as he is watching himself. Therefore, in the beginning of the first episode, Shinpei was already in a loop. Him and Ushio somehow met or contacted each other before the show started and Ushio, who somehow managed to steel the special eye of Mother and gave it to Shinpei, contacted Ryuunosuke next. Then, Shinpei started to be in a loop. That's why Ushio knew only Shinpei could stop the shadow at the festival because they lived it once before the show started and because she gave him the eye of Mother. Roshi's theory about Ushio being copied way before her death also makes sense. And the "spectral Shinpei" is actually the original one, before he started looping. I don't know if my theory makes sense though but there it is! What do you think? 🤔

So it doesn't seem like all shadows move from being touched. It seems just that the shadows are the real bodies. It's a way to test if they're shadows by stepping on a person's shadow, as it'd be like getting stepped on, which isn't pleasant, and you would seek to avoid it if you saw it coming. So what Shinpei did was touch a part of her shadow. It didn't move, because all he was doing was touching her, not stepping on her or hurting her.

Shadow Ushio has curious memory holes that might hint at the timeline before the start of the action we've seen. She doesn't remember sending a voice message to Ryunosuke (not clear yet whether she remembers who Ryunosuke even is). Does this mean the shadow copy happened before the phone call? How long before? Or maybe she had already given the phone to the local policeman by that time and the phone call was really from him, relaying what Ushio (shadow or original) was saying to some third party? And apparently she (or someone else?) changed the password for the phone. Interesting 🤔
