I think the camera flash is a shadow being made so at the funeral when it flashed that's probably when his shadow was created. Probably wrong tho

The person who was looking at him that lupa thought was his shadow saving him, I think that was just like his "spirit" in a way leaving his body, he always says he wants to "take a step back" to analyze the sitation so he even said "I finally can take a step back" after he died. (Note: This is just what I think, I havent read the manga yet or anything)

That's what I'm thinking too. The little girl is probably a shadow, copied his form at the funeral, then killed her family the following morning. What's also crazy is the police officer we saw in episode 1 in the restaurant talking to Shinpei is actually a shadow. Bc that happens after the officer met shadow Mio tonight and got stabbed. I wonder how many other people are shadows and we don't know it yet. Only ppl that are safe is secret agent woman and Mio.

Ok, I'm not going to spoil anything that's to come, but I'm gonna clear a few things up. As far as the flash whenever a shadow is around, that's the way that they copy another person. That's why Mio's shadow started glowing after the fact and another Tetsumura showed up. From that you can kinda guess where Shinpei's shadow came from. Also, about the thing with his eye...you have to remember the very beginning of the first episode when we were looking at everything from his pov and in his dream, Ushio put her hand over his face and said that she gave him a present. That in and of itself is a massive hint, but that'll get explained later on. Hope this clears some stuff up and hope you guys continue to enjoy the ride

Varrick also did the upside down thing in Korra! I think when Asami and Bolin first met him. Also, I'm pretty sure Shin got copied at the funeral and that's what the flash was. Based off Mio saying that people she knew felt like strangers, I think we can assume there's already hella shadows running around. And I think Shin looking down at himself dying was more of an outer body experience that a lot of people associate with death.

I have this random feeling that maybe Ushio isnt even dead? what happens to shadows if they are the ones that die? Could the Ushio we see be a dead Ushio shadow and the real one is hiding or something? that could be crazy

Bro theory time. So shadow mio said that she couldn't or wouldn't make a shadow shinpei because "he was already....". Obviously means he's already a shadow. When shinpei got knocked in the water he couldnt swim. What if all shadows cant swim. So when ushios shadow strangled og ushio the shadow died too because it couldnt swim and the body they found was og ushio.

He’s sus and something is definitely up with him having Ushio’s eye. No hint of where he was for two years and why would someone on an island not be able to swim. But why would he be time looping, why would Shadow Mio kill him twice? And I’ll have to rewatch but don’t we see his shadow this episode though not full on?

Something else i was thinking is that maybe the little girl wasnt already a shadow. I think her shadow was made at the funeral with the flash. Then the real girl got replaced before her family made it home and the girls shadow murked the whole family.

I'm thinking either the shadow died along with the original or Mio & the others found the original Ushio's body first forcing the shadow to hide or the Ushio that died was the shadow & the original is hiding bc she's scared idk

A part of me thought that Shin was a shadow but now that we know that the flashes are what creates the shadows & that the original doesn't have to be dead, I don't think he is bc that little girl obviously made a shadow of shin bc both times during the funeral when the flash happened she's looking directly at Shin & the reason why Shadow Mio was like, "He's already....." Omg I figured it out! Shin isn't a shadow bc we just found out that shadows are created by the flashes right!? & it been proven that the original doesn't have to be dead bc Mio is alive & we now know that the little girl at the funeral is a shadow so I'm pretty sure that that girl made a shadow is Shin at the funeral & that's why Shadow Mio was like, "He's already...." I think she was going to say, "He's already got a shadow" I thought Shin was a shadow at first too but this proves he's not I think lol

Higurashi's plot is more complex, so much stuff not in the anime. Especially coz higurashi is connected to multiple universes. Although pretty much everything you need to know is in the anime.

Alot of people saying Shin is a shadow but I dont think thats right. I think that, yes, he was copied at the funeral by the little girl but what "confirms" he isnt a shadow is what happens the next morning at the diner. Do yall remember the drunk man telling Shin about how he asked about the lady on the boat? But Shin said he never asked and the drunk guy just laughed it off. Its not confirmed but its implied. Also kinda lines up with what shadow Mio was about to say when he died the second time.

Soloing the shadow is a stupid move, and is exactly in character with Subaru. We have no idea how shadows operate and whether they're all loosely connected. What if you killing one, sets off the others and has them all coming at you. Cos you don't know who is a shadow or not.. you're left completely in the dark and paranoid which doesn't do much for remaining rational. Point is we don't know much of anything, so this really is the best option. Sneakily avoiding them, talking to people, gaining allies, gathering information for next loops is a much smarter direction. It prevent being driven insane from experiencing dozens and hundreds of unnecessary loops.

I might be reaching here, but when shadow Mio is looking up at the house, the light is on her but there is no shadow on the ground behind her. Also, when the detective is up on the tree, we see Shiori and her mom and Shinpei; all 3 of their shadows are oddly placed (right beneath their feet as opposed to projecting behind them)

In the first episode, they showed Ushio shoving something into his face at the beginning. I'm guessing that must've been where his eye started to change in color. Also, I'm not sure if it's intentional but his new eye color looks like Ushio's

I have a feeling the camera flash is the shadow taking a picture of the victim/memorizing their appearance at that current moment for a copy(Mio still wearing a uniform). When a shadow flashes it's double it apparently just scorches the body immediately. I'm thinking Uchio did something to either her shadow or Shinpei's to somehow link them at the cost of her own life. Maybe Shinpei's shadow wants to protect Mio too

I think they said "This ain't America" probably because this happens in Okinawa (correct me if I'm wrong). Okinawa have American military bases and an American-influenced culture (their radio plays US music), and the cop looks like he's been in the US. The blonde "Half" (Japanese term for "mixed") girl is also the daughter of a blond gaijin, possibly American.

I think his shadow was made at the girls wake, the flashes seem to go off when they make the copies, like with the sheriff you see that. So that little girl probably flashed the mc and made his copy then.

Damn, I lost count of the number of times Sheera made "Clappable" comments on this episode. Sheera, kindly forget about "predicting" and pay attention to what is happening and more accurately remember what has already happened, lol. The Sheriff is not his friend, the autopsy was not a lie, since his actual friend (not the sheriff) said she had marks on her neck indicating potential foul play. That would give enough reason for a possible autopsy... etc, etc.

I think Shinpei is already shadow. So his family died when he was young leaving him as the only survivor. Then he gets a new family with Mio’s family. I think he left to protect them but doesn’t remember that. Also, busty glasses lady comments on how it’s hanging out among them and it cuts to the little girl, who is def a shadow so we think that’s who she’s talking about but it’s really about Shinpei. This is also Mio says that “he’s already” cuz he’s already a shadow. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk

I do think you are correct on Shinpei having some kind of Shadow powers, but Agent Lady was talking about the little girl otherwise she would have reacted already on the boat about Shinpei. So I don't really think Shinpei is fully Shadow, but somehow using their powers to restart himself.

This show handles death resets so much better than Re:Zero. At least to me. I just like a smart MC that can control his emotions and thoughts a bit better. Subaru did grow on me but that was in the second season and boy was it tough watching him blunder through the first season.

Lol, I just don't want a repeat of Re:Zero where they forgot everything, made false assumptions then tried to "predict" using their false assumptions. That was just horrible since they had no idea what was going on anymore because of all the wrong assumptions they had been making. This seems like it is going to be really interesting, and I want to follow along with them as we unravel the mystery. Don't want to get bogged down with random predictions because of bad assumptions again, lol.
