Yeah a few people are actually annoyed by Anya in the beginning but they warm up to her pretty quickly because she’s actually an endearing character. It’s hard to write a young child character realistically while also making them likable, but I think this show nailed it

Not going to agree with Lupa's assessment of the child, because she is just a child and the writers are being pretty realistic about her portrayal, but I do get why he's annoyed by her as a character in this show, or at least in this episode. If Im not mistaken the "They'll never believe you" is a reference to a parody of the frog who sings "hello my lady, hello my lover, hello my ragtime gal" and the owner of the frog tries to show everyone his singing frog, but the frog is a huge troll and only does it in front of him to mess with him Edit: Look up 'One froggy Evening(1955)' I think Lupa at one point makes a joke about a talking animal in some anime they reacted to long ago and says "they'll never believe you" and it stuck, basically the pun of this is..."they'll never believe you"
