Taiga's apartment was being paid for by her dad but because of his business failing she would have no choice but to go back with her mom and Taiga actually has a decent relationship with her mom but Taiga just felt that she would be awkward with her mom's family. Even though Taiga is 18 her mom had every right to want her daughter to have a roof over her head.

Yes thank you Sheera cuz I don’t think Roshi could understand the Taiga and her mom situation based on that small amount of context with her but he should’ve definitely picked up on a little by the tone she was using and choice of words. Also as someone who’s been in a similar situation to Ryuuji, I fully stand behind what he said to his mom. As a parent they do what they do out of love but Ryuuji was also doing the same. Just because he’s the child in the situation doesn’t mean he’s wrong or doesn’t understand but your faulting him for caring which to me is strange. And he’s right, at least to me, that her failures is what’s got them where they are in life anyway. He didn’t ask to be born nor did she have to run from home, for reasons we don’t know of, and have to struggle in this particular fashion. Me finishing school is one thing but you blowing up about me making money to HELP TAKE CARE OF MY MOTHER is completely uncalled for. He can earn money and still become a success in life. She was forcing her past failures on him as if he was going to go down that exact same path

You should watch ''My love story'', it is SO good! I rarely liked a rom com that much. It's really original too as it derives from the cliches and it's hilarious. There is also ''Saiki K'', but that's not a rom com. It's a comedy/slice of life/action/supernatural anime, but it's goated!

Ryuuji definitely regretted what he said as soon as it left his mouth. You can see it all over his face. It was still a trash ass thing for him to say and i am also mad that he didn't apologize. But i think in his teenager mentality brain, him running away IS him apologizing to her. Like he isn't just running away to marry taiga because fuck his mom, he is running away because he feels like she would have a better life without him around. It's like when he was saying she'd have a better life if he wasnt born. Well he is born, so instead he's running away so she won't have to worry about taking care of him. Whereas Taiga can't live by herself anymore without getting a job because her apartment isn't being paid for by her dad anymore since his business failed. I'm also pretty sure that he PLANNED on apologizing to his mom but she was gone when he got there. Remember how Tagia said, "About Ya-chan...." and Ryuuji was like "Don't worry, I'll take care of it." If she had BEEN there, he would have apologized to her. Thats why he was saying, "She's such a child, running away" because that was his way of saying, "Damn, i didn't get to apologize." Also, idgaf minorin is still trash. Giving up her savings is the LEAST she could do for all the bullcrap she caused.

Yea that how I took the whole him running away bit. Minorin did not have to give them niggas money which she work for to chase the life she wanted because of this riddle and run arc she had. I mean i still don’t like her but the amount of jobs she work and just handed them the money, speaks volumes of her character at least.

Exactly. She knew he was a good student. Her working herself into sickness, and getting mad he tried to help out is one of those helicopter parent overcorrections. Its GREAT she wants the best for him, but she also has to respect that HE can and will have to take care of himself someday, he cant just let her baby him his entire life because she's worried that he cant.

I don't really know what he should have said, but calling his mom a failure in life and saying she's trying to push her failures off on him when he knows that she was only pushing herself so hard so he wouldn't have to work so he could have a better life than she did, is kind of shitty. Which, ultimately, is the goal for every parent, to give your child the opportunities to have a better life than you. She did come at him wrong, which is what sparked the whole thing. But at the same time, I think that he had already decided to run away, so part of me thinks that he said that in order to push him mom away because he was planning on running away. I dunno man, I'd have to see the next episode in order to know that one for sure.

Nah this was definitely spur of the moment for Ryuuji at least. He got hit with a lot of bs in 1 day between Taiga, Minorin, and his mom pulling up. I think initially he just didn’t want to deal with anymore drama but after they got to the bridge it became more of an apologetic thought to run away and since he had Taiga at his side there was no reason to look back

ngl this ep hit hardest for me than all their love traingle square stuff. not to downplay those but im weak against familial love rather than romantic. the struggles between ryuji and his mom really hits hard. its hard to blame either side since for ryuji he doesnt want to burden his mother and wants to provide as fast as possible. on the other hand, yasuko is literally the perfect mother (which is ironic cuz in the beginning we see her as the most childish character on the show) who has raised ryuji by herself and he turned out great. and all she wants is for ryuji to grow up and go down a better path than what she did. i dont usually cry but this shit hits too hard not to when they were arguing or when they show how much they cared about each other.

Just like how Yasuko wants a better life for Ryuuji he wants the same thing for his mom. You saw how he almost broke down when he realized how much strain working multiple jobs was for Yasuko. His idea to run away came from the fact that he thought his mom would be better off without him cause he truly thinks he ruined her life just from being born. What he said to his mother was trash but he probably thought that he was doing his mom a favor by leaving her.

The main problem in this situation is that Yasuko doesn't make enough money to send Ryuuji to college so no matter how smart he is it doesn't fix that situation. She decided to work more than one job to make sure that Ryuuji has a chance to keep his grades up without any distractions so I can see why she would get angry at him for working. At the end of the day both of them wants the best for each other but they're not thinking about their own well being.

From what I can tell in the show Ryuuji's grades are good enough to get by but he isn't top of his class or anything like that. In Japan they have you take entrance exams for the college/university of your choice so Yasuko probably wants him to focus on that and pass but yeah she's kind of projecting her own insecurities onto him. I think Ryuuji should be able to pass those exams while helping her mom out but at the end of the day they're both bull headed.

Yea, it was definitely an intentional indirect kiss as a form of goodbye to him in her head. The more I think about it the more I feel sad for what happened to Minorin even though she manifested her own ending this way through her actions. Because yes, she & Takasu would have 100% ended up together organically since they both had mutual feelings anyway and she knows this for a fact. She knows for a fact that she gave up a relationship with him for her best friend which I think must suck worse than knowing that the person you like never liked you in the first place.
