I don't know if the following is a spoiler since all I'm doing is explaining the timelines, but if you want to figure them out without assistance, you should stop reading here. Easiest way to look at the timelines is that we are following the story of 3 characters. Ciri's story is the only one that starts off in the present. Yennefer's story begins the furthest back of the three. Eventually Yennefer's story catches up to Geralt's story. Then both their stories catch up to Ciri's story. Both Yennefer and Geralt have very long lifespans, so the amount of time that separates their stories from themselves and Ciri is massive by human standards.

Season 2 a brand new bag. but yea, I understand Lupa stepping in sometimes to help out with lore, its like every other adaptation out there. yall need them blindwave notebooks. learning names and events will help with the nonlinear storytelling. like in this episode, when renfri was talking to geralt in the woods trying to get him to skill the wizard, she mentioned that queen calanthe (the queen we are flashing to) just won her FIRST battle so that lets us know the geralt stuff is in the past and the ciri stuff is in the present. little things like that are said casually throughout the season and if you catch it you can put it together before the show goes linear

The greatest part of this episode is the bit where Geralt was talking about his first kill. At first is seemed like he knew Renfri was in the bushes so he was speaking for her benefit, but was startled when she came out of the woods. That means the man was sitting in the middle of the woods talking to Roach about his life.

Lupa must have played a lot as he remembers the sign names and a lot of things. "They are here" Lupa goes closer to TV like he could see them :D. They were told there is flashbacks and different timelines in scenes. They pick wrong choice which is flashback, when they learn that wasn't flashback decide both were same timeline...lol. Sorry this shit is funny to me =)

so basically to understand this, literally everything in this series but cirillias pov is a flashback until season 2, it doesnt explicitly say it because it assumes youve read the books and the books tell you that its a flashback, hope this helps.

Quick clarification on the timeline thing. The Geralt in Blaviken plot happens, at a guess, at least 30 years before the Ciri in Cintra plot. Explanation: At the banquet, Ciri mentions that her grandmother, Queen Calanthe, won her first battle at Ciri's age. In Blaviken, when Renfri is talking about her past, she mentions that same battle and refers to it having just happened. Just thought the clarification might be nice. There are usually explanations like this in the show, but they are way too easy to miss.

Ok. Let me clear up the timeline nonsense. I'm sure you've watched second episode already, but here you go. All timelines are moving forward but start at different points. There are only 3 timelines which follow the point of view characters: Cirilla, Geralt, and Yennefer. that's it. I'm gonna say more but this might count as a spoiler (I don't count it as one, but whatever), so read at your own risk. All 3 timelines eventually converge. The reason the timelines follow such long times, is because witchers (and other things) live longer than other humans.

The Geralt stuff actually happened many year before the fall of Cintra. Renfri says that Queen Calanthe just won her first battle when she is talking to Geralt. Calanthe in Ciro's grandma and is like 12 when she wins her first battle so it is many year before the stuff in Cintra

At 28:30 you can get a track of the timeline for first watchers, Renfri says the Queen Calanthe has won her first battle. The previous scene Cirilla talks about her grandmother winning when she was Cirilla's age. Also the Lupa stuff isn't even that bad, they don't even know what he's talking about guys and they will forget if he doesn't talk more about the game stuff.

Tbh guys (especially Roshi and Lupa) Witcher 3 is probably the most perfect RPG out there. It is pretty complicated and seems a bit hard and overwhelming but once you get into it you realize it fullfills any needs you ever had and will have for an rpg (skilling, crafting, GWENT HELKL YEAH GWENT BABY etc.) , the world is so immersive and it combines elements of this sandbox-ish free world like in skyrim with 10000 of places and quests to discover while also beeing detailed and treated with a lot of love like read dead redemption and even making fights no bland "spam attack till the enemy falls over" by borrowing a portion of dark souls challenging fights (eventough it depends on the difficulty you play it at, I played it blind with the second highest difficiulty dont know the name and it was perfect balance of not beeing to frustrating and still beeing hard at times). Please don't miss out on this masterpiece of a game guys it took over my nr. 1 which was skyrim with easily 5k hours. Edit: Ok it seems Lupa played quite a bit of Witcher from the intro I thougt he only played quent seperatly because it exists as a seperate game.

The Witcher 3 is a masterpiece, in my opinion. Definitely worth a playthrough but I will say -- y'all are gonna be confused as a mfer watching this. I've read some of the books and looked into the lore and it still confused my ass.

I understand how it’s confusing but al you need to know is that ciri’s scenes are current time and gerelt scenes are the past before everything with ciri and that’s the case until later on when the paths finally aline and the other character we follow that i won’t reveal is the either further past even before gerelt and that stays that way until their stories finally aline

It's fine if they are confused the first episode though. There's no real reason to instantly assume its 2 different times yet, especially since they aren't familiar with the source material. I personally think it's not complex, but the show is a little messy at handling the timelines... they'll definitely catch on eventually

I really hate that people spoiled the different timelines of the season. It’s a big part of it. That’s why there’s hints throughout before it becomes clear. With the hints (or confusion) you start questioning things. Then it becomes clearer. It’s part of the mystique of the season. Especially for ppl that never read the books or played the games.
