LETS GOOOOO

Grelk

harley is tonight too, correct?

Pman

Damn. Sucks kizu wont be watched for while since its the best animated part of the series. But i respect ur guys opinion

Dakotah

Super excited for when you guys get to Kizumonogatari next, it's kind of like that transition from Fate UBW to Heavens Feel, the production quality and tonal shift is amazing, almost feels like a completely different series.

GMZGaming .

Are we getting heaven feel today?

Winston M

is the audio messed up for everyone or is that just me

Hop981

Some people might tell you guys to watch Kizumonogatari next, which are the three movies that serve as the prequel of Bakemonogatari, I personally think you should move to Nisemonogatari, watch the next parts/seasons as they were realised through the years, but well, that's my opinion, watch the parts/seasons as you guys like :)

About Shinobu. Hachikuji did see her by the donut store, so it's likely that she entered Araragi's shadow without him noticing when he went by the store looking for her. As for other questions, the best I can say is that everything will be answered throughout the rest of the show (at least if I'm remembering correctly).

Kitsune Tengu

Now we wait sad and depressed until next monogatari comes up TnT

Zaedeor

The way they were released are the Kizu movies next. With something based on novels you follow the novel release. This series specifically had very bad release issues so the anime released out of order.

Vee

They should watch the story in novel order, since it makes far more sense than where Kizu is placed in the anime release order. You can't have Bake directly leave off of and have conflicts pertaining to Kizu, then skip Kizu for the rest of the story when its plot needs to be known for a lot of Bake to make sense. Spoiler: They also wont have any idea who Episode is in Nekomonogatari, when his introduction is in Kizu.

Homura

Excited for Kizu whenever you guys get to it!

NecDW4

Dont worry, they werent spoiling anything with he flashbacks, and there wouldnt be anything to have seen (or in case off the book, read) by the time they were dropping those hints. You're meant to wonder WTF had happened, with only bits and pieces of info that gets casually mentioned over the course of the series.

Sebastian Stróż

Watching kizu is the only right way and its always was supposed to be like that but movies were delayed. Also they already have watch order from discord so yeah.

Sebastian Stróż

As much as I would like you to watch entire season 1 in one go its totally your call. And I'm not saying this because i watch to watch your reaction but It will be worse for you. I just hope you will watch Kizu up to Neko kuro (aka up to the end of season 1) in the next batch or you will be forgetting a lot of important thing. Also as mentioned before I hope you enjoy it enough to rewatch the whole thing at some point as it sheds new light on most of the events when you know whats happening i later episodes!

Simone Resni

I would have liked to have you guys talking a little bit of what you thought about this season Monogatari is my favorite anime of all times and it is a very singular and peculiar show, so having you point of view on what you thought was good and what you thought was bad would have been cool

Matthew B

You guys have it backwards I think, unless I heard you wrong. The cat told Araragi to go towards the lit lamp so that it WOULD cast his shadow. Aint no shadows in pitch dark, you need light present to drop a shadow. She wanted Shinobu to come out and save him.

Most Sane Oreimo Fan

I think the best way is to follow the light novel and go to Kizu after this one since there is some stuff that you can only understand why it is happening in Nise if you have context about Kizu. They would be thrown off to why Shinobu acts the way she is in Nise if they do not know what happened during the spring break. That's just me since I have both read the novel and watched the series.

Rowan Cullen

Yeah, don't worry - the novels themselves were released and are intended to be experienced not in chronological order. You're supposed to know how Kizu ends before it begins.

radeb

I watched Nisemonogatari right after Bake and i was confused as fuck, then i watched the movies and i understand things, so i think Bake->Kize is the way to go.

radeb

Please get rid of Nagatoro for the replacement to Bake, that show is overhyped trash, the only good thing about it is the opening. There are much better romcoms if you wanna watch one.

Valdemar The Dark Thugy

Let me enlighten you like Sheera (hope i spelled it right) enlighten me about neko's possible scheme (never connected in my mind her ability to smell shinobu and araragis comment about shinobus ability when she's far from him, that gave me whole another angle to look on this episode). That vampire shit is indeed from Kizumonogatari and you've seen it in the beginning of this season in the 1st episode tho it looks so much better in Kizu itself cuz Kizu is movie series and they spend a lot of cheese on to make it cake for eyes (and as many have pointed out, getting from monogatari TV series to Kizu is similar to getting from UBW to Heaven's Feel, which you coincidently watching right now lol). I hope you'll guys watch it (kizu i mean) right after bake cuz I said in my comment under your first try to watch bake (the one with messed up sound) you won't get the nature of their bond and some of their interactions (the most important ones I would add) will get over your heads. Also you would understand shit about that debt to Hanekawa Araragi brings up With that out of the way, thank you guys for reactions to bake, a lot of people miss on this diamond so I'm thankful to you for expanding monogatari fandom even if a little bit. And I also hope my shit is consumable, eng is not my native language and I might've missed up the syntax

None None

Christ, this episode is SO good when you've seen the later shit. So many little details that set up future plot points or get called back to later. The climax to one of the later seasons is absolutely brilliant after seeing this episode again and catching the connection.

Edgar Lopez

You guys should watch the Kizumonogatari films next so you can get a better understanding of the series since Kizumonogatari is the first chronologically, really good films by the way

RonyOnPat

When it comes to monogatari, regarding updating it in parts. I think it would be best that you guys watch them in close succession and then spread the uploads through weeks like you have been. That way you guys arent missing/forgetting information. e.g x part has 9 epsiodes so you guys watch them close together but upload the nine episodes devided by maybe 3 weeks so 3 a week

Kingsley

Have you ever seen a creator answer a question to an unrelated show in another show's comments?

I'm glad that you guys like the first season. It's just going to get better from here. Can't wait to watch your reactions to Kizumonogatari Trilogy. The animations in those movies are amazing. Monogatari: Unlimited Budget Works. I'm just sad that we're going to wait longer to watch your reactions to those movies but I understand that you need variety of shows to react to.

Villenthessis

They should watch Kizu trilogy next because that's the next one after Bake in the release order of the novels and it's better because they're going to understand more of the plot and the characters that's going to appear in the future seasons.

Saleenseven

I hope they follow Novel Order and watch Kizu next! It makes Nise so much better.

K M

Ya kizu after bake. Why would you not follow the release order for the novels, it’s the order you are meant to follow

Alejandro Pupo

Definitely watch Kizu next! While it aired way later that was because of production difficulties. Kizu is the first book and it'd probably be best to get all the context from that story before moving on. Either way, loved this reaction! Can't wait to see what else is in store!

SuperSickMedia

Monogatari is a non-linear story. I recommend just watching it in release order if you want the experience that og viewers had.

Jamal

kizu is introduction arc for shinobu, and giving some background for hanekawa. why would you want to watch it after both storyline concluded?

Daud

watch it in novel order, so kizumonogatari after bakemonogatari, that's the way author intended.

Ougi

yeah going to nise without wtaching kizu will be especially confusing

None None

Yes. Last week when someone asked about Heaven's Feel in the Castlevania finale comments.

Luke4003

so are you doing a poll for the next show or it's decided already?

Izaya

You were not spoiled. Thats the order that the author intended us to read the books. You are watching the correct order. The author hadn't wrote that story yet at this point so you were not spoiled. Monogatari is supose to be like this, they tease us wit stuff that happened in the past but that wasn't really shown yet, so dont worry. You should watch the Kizumonogatari movies now

PyroPhoenix

You are watching in release order not chronological order that is why it seems like some stuff happened before this. I dont think the books were in chronological order either, the author purposely(or maybe not) wrote them out of order.

James Ancester

Awesome as always. Now onto the Kizu movies

Akioooo.

Yeah I mean technically it's a spoiler but it was an intentional one and how the author wanted it.

Lord LaMink

Man I watched the movies before I saw any of the series, everything else is just confusion to me lol

James Yoder

Yes Araragi-san is in fact Mr. Bitches

Kano Misogi

Happy they didn't notice that Shinobu wasn't wearing anything under that dress accept for a band-aid

Taylor Moon

But at least he's chosen to be faithful early on to just one of the bitches

Taylor Moon

literally impossible to notice without the knowledge beforehand

Taylor Moon

they're watching it in the correct order so long as they watch kizu movies next, the purpose is to drop hints and tidbits of what happened prior so when the season ends you are more interested in learning the previous events

Infinity

i hope you watched kizu next or you're going to be hella confused going forward. Also I always feel bad for hanekawa watching this episode. She was so stressed out trying to balance being close friends to the person she loves and being respectful towards him and his new relationship. Once you know tsubasa and araragis backstory from spring break you realize how kinda trashy it is he jumped into a relationship with senjou so fast. I don't know if it was intentional but honestly throughout the novels and even all the other series it was quite obvious araragi was in love with tsubasa but never thought he had a chance. Him and senjou seem more like a convenience relationship than anything. Similar to how anyone could of saved senjou at the time and probably gotten her admiration anyone who gave araragi the time of day romantically probably would of won him over. So I guess its just a lesson of strike while the irons hot or some shit.

Infinity

Also side point The cat purposely brought him into the light so he WOULD have a bigger shadow why would his shadow disappear in the light lol. The cat could have killed him immediately she was purposely baiting him to draw out shinobu she knows killing him would of made hanekawas stress worse. It goes back to what I said above he stopped believing in her so she faded away until he called out to her for help. The point of tsubasa's character is shes basically always the one helping araragi grow and saving him. The conclusion of this episode was basically her doing that in a way it made him understand he's being sorta a playboy and need to be more aware of that and also its not explained properly here but he basically doesn't value his own life and now for th first time he does and even asked someone to save it.
