The problem is the kind of moments they show fan service. There's no reason for fan service if the moment is serious which is what these guys have a problem with and I agree cause it doesn't fit with the tone of what's going on at that moment.

As others have said, Fate/Stay Night was originally an eroge, basically an erotic visual novel. I wouldn't really say it was a porn game since from what I remember it had like 6 relatively short porn scenes in a roughly 70 hour game, but they were there and just as unnecessary too. Their problem with the fanservice is that it's just unnecessarily inserted into scenes. Like that random shot of Rin's waist and thighs during her serious discussion with ARcher.

Shirou went braindead in the fire. So he doesn't have any memories of his prior life because he literally died. His brain was healed by Kiritsugu when he was found, so his actual first memory was Kiritsugu crying his eyes out looking happy he saved at least one person. (This is not a spoiler, pretty sure the anime never mentions this)

Yeah the anime never mentioned what Shirou went through during that incident. I really thought he was an orphan or something before that and that's why he didn't talk about his parents but what you said actual makes way more sense on why he acts like he does now.

From what I remember from the Visual Novel caster just wants to humiliate saber into submission. But there is one thing I agree with you on, the angles that show Rin off are a bit unnecessary despite it originally being an eroge. I don't think that's an excuse.

I agree with everyone else about it being inserted at odd places. Prison School, however, is an exception because 'fanservice' is part of the comedy of the show - it's not an addition.

I agree with your criticisms of the senseless fanservice, but the annoying thing is you guys constantly make sexual jokes/fart noises during literally every cute/funny/important scene in the show. I mean, you always make a bunch of jokes but with this show it's basically nonstop and you end up missing the whole vibe of the scene.

@Evan exactly Prison School is the kind of anime where nothing is ever serious so they can do fan service at any point and it wouldn't be weird. With this show I don't mind the fan service but keep it separate from the serious moments.

I believe the first and only thing Shiro remembers from his past is walking through a sea of fire and corpses. If you remember the Zero finale the contents of grail literally fell from the sky and broke every building within it's vicinity with people inside them. Shiro (probably 6/7 years old) was injured which is what contributes to his amnesia.

People can have memories from as far back as their first year. What Sheera was saying is that you won't have the context to understand those memories if there wasn't some consistency between your life before you're 5 and after you're 5. Although I would say 3-4 is the sweet spot. You might have a memory of being held by your mother, but if your mother wasn't in your life after a certain age and you believe someone else is your mother, that memory will lose its meaning for you. You might even forget it eventually because it will hold little to no value for you. I can't confirm what they said cause my life had consistency before and after those ages so I understand all my memories from before that age and have chosen to keep them for as long as possible, but I understand where they are coming from.

Ok so the thing about Shirou's memory of his past life. In the novel, its explained that in that fire that happened he got so close to death that he might as well have died. It was described as if every part of him died, with his will to live being the only thing left. And it actually almost died too, but Kiritsugu found him right before that. Shirou basically became an empty shell of a person, losing everything of his previous life, which probably included any clear memories of his parents.

Trust me, I get that. I've been subbed here for a long time. I think they're hilarious and pretty much the most fun reactors out there. I just saw them actually getting irritated at a serious part of the episode getting ruined by fanservice and thought that it didn't make sense for them to get upset when they've been joking through basically every scene in the series so far. Fan service is good when it's actually part of the show. Prison School makes great jokes out of fan service. Others just add it and throws off the whole mood of the scene. I don't see how being an adult has to do with it. If anything, you should be weirded out more. Adults aren't hormonal teenagers anymore.

For the memory thing, most ppl don't remember much at that young of an age. But also traumatic events can make u forget too. So I don't find it too weird that he doesn't talk much of his past.

Fanservice is good when you expect it to happen but it is bad when it became a distraction. It's the same as Code Geass you didn't want it when the character talking about something serious and suddenly BOOM butt and boobs on the face.

I don't think the fan service in FG/O matters that much because the characters that we get fan service from are just servants, they are basically hundreds if not thousands of years old while Rin here is a normal underage girl. Not to mention that the servants have fictional looks, so some might look young in the show but they were actually much older when they died in their legends.
