Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t believe the school wide hate carried over to when he was that old (late hs age?!?). He just had severe anxiety and fell into the trap of assuming every whisper, every glance was full of hate towards him, and no one liked him. When in reality no one was looking at him. It was just because he had some much self hate he began projecting onto everyone around him the idea that they must hate him like he hated himself. P.S. Dope reaction, loved it as always

I often ask myself how this movie wasn't nominated for an Oscar. It was released in Japan in 2016 and worldwide in 2017 so if it should have been eligible at the 2018 Oscars. You cannot tell me that Boss Baby or Ferdinand was a better animated movie than A Silent Voice. Sure Coco would have still won but Pixar will always win when they are nominated but still A Silent Voice should have been nominated.

I love this movie! This movie hit me hard on so many levels. I didn't really cry i was mostly made because the bullying can happen to any body deaf, blind, fat, skinny! This movie shows that anybody that different from the crowd will always get bullied but sometimes Karma happens too.

I still love this movie even though it claps me every time. I still get riled up in the drama. I said I wouldn't watch it again after the second time but alas, I forgot my clown makeup 😂😂

Shout out to you guys not fully writing off Ueno's character in the end, a lot of people just dismiss her as irredeemable completely, despite her being one of the more honest and straightforward characters in the film (calling Kawai on her bs during the bridge scene, for example). Still not fully redeemed and pardoned for her actions prior, but the intent and attempts by the end to coexist with Shoko are there.

Shoutout to Hiyama Saori who voices the main girl Nishimiya Shouko for her amazing performance. Couldnt believe she wasnt actually deaf. (She also voices Fubuki from One Punch Man and Shinobu from Demon Slayer)

Something of note as well. Go back and rewatch the Choir scene and pay attention to Kawai, she knew Shoko was looking for people's mouths to start moving to know when to sing. Kawai deliberately mouthed as if she started singing, throwing Shoko off. Show's her less than holy persona.

People would be justified in writing her off completely as they would with shouya tbh. People love to say well she’s honest as if it’s some sort of achievement but it reality it doesn’t change the fact she did horrible things to shouko even when she grew up. Her learning sign language is a very minuscule step to any redemption that I feel is given too much praise imo. Nonetheless hopefully she grows up and apologises properly as shouko wants to be friends with her.

I like the thought but I really dont think that was intentional, she was bobbing to the beat and was excited. I agree that it DID throw her off because she saw her and thought she was about to start singing, but it didn't look intentional at all. If they had made her glance over quickly at some point before it happened I would be with it, but I don't think that was on purpose. She was just excited and Shoko misread.
