Yeah there are 2 Violet Evergarden movies. The first is Violet Evergarden: Eternity and the Auto Memory Doll (2019) and Violet Evergarden: The Movie (2020).

Kyoto Animation made this show! They're famous for their expressive character animation, they don't make any action shows or anything like that, so I don't think you guys may have seen much from them.

Kyoto Animations is the studio behind this, they're my favorite studio because of the consistent insane animation quality and the very progressive/fair treatment of their animators. They're making their comeback this season with Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid S, which is airing now. If you wanted another show from them I'd recommend Nichijou, its a comedy which really shows their range and is considered a classic at this point. Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

Look up Making of Violet Evergarden, A Production History, by Under The Scope on Youtube. This anime is the product of a very specific set of circumstances that may not be replicatable, which explains why the quality is so high, and why its not fair to compare it to other animes.

No it can't be the Major. Him surviving the war would feel like a betrayal at this point...Although i am hella curious as to Violet's surprise.

Kyoto Animation aka KtoAni make this show and if you want more wholesome and day to day life anime then anything from them is 10/10 and worthy to replace violet. As for replacement for this anime i highly recommend Place Further Than the Universe which has similar vibe to it.

I feel like they did their best to shut down the idea that the Major was alive, the reason I think they wouldn't just straight-up show him being blown to bits is because they want the viewer to hope he is alive along with Violet. The end scene to me was just a closing thing where she says the name of the show one last time.

God I love this show. Usually I feel like most anime would take place during the height of a war, rather than going through a character struggling to live after the war.
