For me Lupa adding a little comic relief is what keeps me sane watching these reaction videos. who cares about the plot anyways, everyone knows this show only blew up because of its crazy animation and sound design.

The original Fate/Stay Night adaptation was released before this. This show is an adaptation of the second story route of the visual novel and was released years after Fate/Zero as a sequel. The original writer denies this being a sequel, but it very much is.

In the original game, the first time you play through, Shirou just stands there and watches Saber fuck Archer's shit up, so he's basically dead for the rest of the story. The second time you play, there's an option to use a command seal to stop her, which changes up the rest of the story a LOT. The original 2006 anime was the "Archer gets clapped" version of the story, while UBW is the "Archer doesn't get clapped" version of the story.

Cu Chulainn. He was a warrior from Ireland. Like most Irish mythology, it's about a guy slaughtering hoards of enemy soldiers, fucking every woman in sight (at the age of 12 he underwent spear training with a goddess so he'd be qualified to marry a princess, and ended up banging not only his spear teacher, but also her daughter and evil twin), and having an amazing death. It's a damn shame Ulster Cycle mythology isn't more well-known outside of Europe. Every word of it is fucking amazing.

I feel like what Gae Bolg actually does here is usually unclear to first time watchers, so good catch on it "rewinding time", but for those interested it's much more subtle than that. Like Arturia says it literally reversed cause and effect, so that the result of her getting stabbed occurs before the action of actually having to stab her. She only didn't die due to her extreme "Intuition" skill (which is pretty much in-universe plot armor)

At the end of zero she mentioned that she would not fail next time as she sat down and awaits the next war. 2. When she is summoned they show Avalon(Scabbard) connecting to the saber class meaning Kiritsugu kept it and it was used as a catalyst like in the last war to summon specifically Artoria again.

I wanted to clarify how the seasons came out. So this story, Fate Stay/Night came out as a Visual Novel first. A visual novel, if you don't know, is one where you can make choices and interact with the characters and the story changes accordingly. In Fate Stay/Night’s case, there are three different routes you can take, all done in a certain order. Unlimited Blade Works is the name of the second route you can take. Then Fate Zero the anime came out. Then the current anime you’re watching came out in 2014. So basically you can think of it as the source material for UBW came out first, then Fate Zero the anime, then the anime adaptation of the source material. For those reasons, Fate Zero is seen as the prequel. I did simplify a bit here. The true order is a little more complicated. Fate Stay/Night, the original, first comes out as a VN. Then there was Fate/Stay Night the anime which covered the first route. Then Fate Zero. Then this anime, Fate Stay Night UBW which covered the second route. However, because most people don’t see the first Fate/Stay Night anime as a good adaptation, people skip that. So you have this interesting situation where people watch Fate Zero first usually, while viewing UBW (the current series we’re watching) as the original story which it is. I hope this complicated explanation makes sense!

You're exactly right, but there's also the fact that in fate lore, servants can be summoned at different ages ( for example, Gilgamesh in Fate/Zero was summoned as a teenager/young adult , hence his arrogance; but in fate babylonia, an older version of him was summoned) ; There's also the class that influence the servants personnality and abilites, since a servant that was proficient with multiple weapons can be summoned in different classes.

That gem necklace that Rin used to save Emiya at school --- Who currently has it? :^) Also, no one realized that the summoning circle in the 'utility closet/shed' that was used to summon Saber is the SAME magic circle that Irisviel was using to charge herself and when she gave back Avalon?? Edit: Its also fun to point out that the magic circle was drawn by Saber originally because Irisviel was too weak to do so herself. So in essence, Saber literally laid the foundation for her own summoning 10 years ago.

If I'm not mistaken: the reason why the same Saber got summoned, is because Kiritsugu still had Arthur's scabbard and gave it to Shirou. You could briefly see the scabbard during the summoning of Saber. To summon a specific servant, you need an artifact of said hero. Which is why Shirou got the same Saber again, because he owns the scabbard atm. But also, because of plot of course.

Also nobody mentioned how our boi didn't use a Catalyst for the Summoning at all, thus basically he got an RNG Summon of the remaining free Class types of one of the random personalities stored in the Throne of Heroes, based on the closest match to his own personality type. So Artoria is the closest personality match to him of the Saber-class Servants

Lancer's name is Cú Chulainn , his mentor is Scáthatch who also gave him one of her spears Gae Bolg.When it comes to fate lore,the thing about Cu's Noble phantasm is that its a unmissable attack that will always penetrate the heart,unless you can block it and absorb the entire damage or mitigate some of it you are getting hit in the heart with it. But Saber has a high Instinct ability were in some cases she can predict the future were her instinct ability allowed her to dodge and not get penetrated in her heart even though the space distorted

True, servants can be based on various interpretations of the legends. So For example if Artoria was summoned as a lancer she would look drastically different (since Excalibur stops its user from aging) and she would have a radically different personality. The best example of this is probably Jack the Ripper, since there are so many legends of him that differ drastically he can be summoned as anything from a little girl to a demon to an inanimate object lol

The estate is where Kiritsugu setup shop for conducting the grail war, if you remember at the end of Zero it's where Lancelot pretending to be rider broke in and kidnapped Iri, That's the same shed Shirou is using. If you wanna get technical I guess you can say the Einzebern's own that estate too since they probably gave Kiritsugu the money to buy it and use it for the war, but they ain't coming to collect so lol

My 'point' isn't for them to be 'clued' in on anything. I wasn't looking for a definitive answer, simply providing them with a poignant question to make them think and keep in the back of their heads. When I first saw UBW, having never seen Fate/Zero, I was confused as fuck when I noticed who possessed the necklace in each episode. But I still noticed it. I didn't need any background knowledge to know that was an inconsistency with how the story was being told from Rin's perspective and then Emiya's perspective. Of course I know how things play out going forward..

Sakura literally never died nor was it implied at any point anytime in zero she did idk why yall still think this everything that happened in Zero is literally an alternate timeline to Fate Stay night and most of it is irrelevant here. 2. Grail wars are every 60 years this one isn't which isn't normal which was already explained. 3. The same type of servants are always summoned but not always the same servants but if you have a catalyst tied to a specific servant you can always summon them. 4. You've literally seen every single character in this show already in Zero you just didn't pay attention enough lol. 5. Kiritusug told Emiya nothing of the grail war and stuff so no he had no idea how to summon or that a summoning circle was there or anything because once again the grail war happens every 60 years normally but this war is abnormal because the last one didn't technically finish since kiritsugu destroyed the lesser grail and Gilgamesh never died 6. DONT YOU EVER CALL MY BOI CU A PIECE OF SHIT. Hes literally one of the most popular characters in the entire franchise and for good reasons. Not only is he basically Irish Hercules he's a demi-god and the realist servant in the series. Sabre is not actually a real heroic spirit as shes not actually dead so the rest of them DO NOT maintain memories from their previous summoning but Sabre does. However Zero is technically different timeline to Stay night so she wont really react to it since this is technically a different sabre from a new timeline. its complicated you'll get used to it.

If you don't play the visual novel or read backstory stuff you never know wtfs actually going on. UBW in particular really explains nothing outside of stuff specific to emiya and while Heavens Feels explains stuff a little better anime only watchers will never understand fully wtf is happening. Its LITERALLY never explained period. King Arthur not being dead is part of his lore in real life and while its a spoiler for the "Fate" route we all know they ain't gonna watch the studio deen adaptation of that and it'll probably never get re animated anyway so now you know shes not actually dead and she's not even a real heroic spirit.

Yeah Jolu pretty much mentioned it. The final episode of Zero said that the aftermath/destruction of the fire was Kirei’s wish. My memory is fuzzy for UBW but I don’t think they go into that detail again.

This is why I really think it is better to start off with UBW and the whole FSN storyline first before Zero because 1) Zero spoils Heaven's Feel 2) the whole FSN was made years before Zero was made so there was never an intention for Zero to exist until one author decided to write a novel out of it.

I dont know much about lancer but from what i have read, he is a fcking beast. There are several instances where an army is trying to find loopholes in the blessings he got from divine interventions. They still got fcked because he has to many of them to be able to work around their specific requirement. He is literally a one man army

Stop talking shit about Emiya Kiritsugu... my god how little you must have understood Fate/Stay Zero to come to the conclusion of "he caused it, fuck him"..... The last episode of Fate/Stay Zero was very clear about the Holy Grail being Evil.. so he rejected making a wish and tried to destroy it... How can you blame Kiritsugu Emiya for the Grail still ending up doing some Evil shit. It is really hard listening to you clowning on a broken man that sacrificed literally everything to save people and end conflict.... just because you didn't pay attention and didn't understand what happened.. even after Roshi pointed out that it wasn't his wish... he rejected the Grail and tried to destroy it. There is literally nothing more he could have done. Wow, more clown shoes, should I be scared that this might go like Re:Zero with the random assumptions due to lack of logic and forgetting information provided by the show? Pls no. Roshi was my only hope but then he said "Saber is fighting to protect him" at school.. Yeah? You forgot he got stabbed and almost died? We have been following him this whole episode, when did he summon Saber? LOL. I am hoping y'all got back on your game because this is an amazing series that I want to enjoy with you guys and, NOT get frustrated like your Re:Zero reactions.

I was with you until you mentioned the Roshi part, they've made a wonderful job so far keeping up for their first time watching Fate, a lot of people's first time including my own we were confused as fuck and it was hard to find enjoyable ( story-wise at least, combat scenes were still amazing ). I admit Lupa can get annoying with blaming Kiritsugu, but there's no need to be so aggressive about it. I was annoyed by their reaction to Steins Gate at serious points where they've just made jokes / lewd jokes, but I'd rather them just be themselves and, you know.. react honestly rather than suppress their personality for the viewers sake, I dont enjoy fake shit like that.

he's right tho, Roshi and Sheera has even explained it to Lupa at the end of Zero and he's still acting like it was Kiritsugu. This isn't even the only instance. Lupa has always been too busy crackin stupid jokes to actually pay attention to what is happening. It's one thing to misunderstand because you forgot/missed some detail like Roshi and Sheera sometimes does. Lupa is just not even paying attention though, which is frustrating as hell, and his jokes distract the other two from paying attention too. Don't believe me? Go watch a duo reaction of shows they did without Lupa. Those reactions are always 100% better and more intelligent overall because they actually paid full attention to the show instead of Lupa's jokes every 2 min.
