Can't wait for the movie! it's 10/10 Edit: Also, the movie isn't the ending. The movie leaves off at about volume 4 of the Light novel. Currently, there are 12 volumes so theres tons of content for a s2 and more. The LN and anime are pretty different though so if anyones planning to read it, it's best to start from the beginning.

I believe roshi is right in the statement that letting them go or killing them wouldnt have mattered. My personal belief as to why they should have captured them at the port is becase the surrounding nations would have a reason to attack withan allience of refugess rather than invading the empire and asking for help that way. Either way, cant wait for the movie!

I think the reasoning is, if the empire had crushed the resistance forces before they ran away, other nations wouldn't have had a political focal-point to rally around. With no one continuing the fight, they would feel far less inclined to join in.

Yeah they aren’t worried about other nations Declaring war themselves. But they are worried about other nations supporting the Rebels and/or Sending them reinforcements, especially since they are running on fumes themselves, that’s why Tanyas crew is getting so much action lol. They can handle the rebels themselves but not if another country or 2 decide to back them themselves

btw the type-95 that tanya has she doesnt always use. she uses the type-97 and only uses the type-95 if 100% needed. cuz every time she uses it her mind gets more and more of liking being-X. mental corruption as she calls it. she has caught herself parsing god without realizing it. also it wasnt shown in the anime but mary was blessed by a few gods and said the only power that can kill her is one equaling it. so if tanya wasnt here then she could by herself take over the planet. also they said her name was marry sue. so that name alone explains her bs.

I think it will get a s2 on 2022 because overlord s4 is coming this year iirc the author of overlord and youjo senki is goodfriends and so there is a chance that there will be a new season

for those of you interested. this is a video that shows some of the brilliant ways the anime uses shot composition to tell the story. it really is incredible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lbK2luG1Do edit: the sound design is also very subtle like the way being x's music will play whenever hes manipulating things or when tanya is thinking about him. for instance, when the guy asks tanya why she always carries her gun around with her, being x's music plays softly in the background giving you the real answer while she tells him shes always in a state of readiness.

All the resistance forces are is a big resource sponge,empire cant afford to send a big response towards them but at the same time it will take a lot of resources to even get there and sustain a long distance war,if any country chooses to join the resistance's war effort then the empire will just keep loosing resources it definetly needs aganist russia and UK

I recommend watching the OVA first before watching the movie, i believe it's cannon since it's referenced in the movie.

Also I believe after they released the OVA of this June 2021 they also announced a 2nd season in the works w/ no date yet. Imagine if MAPA or studio WIT worked on it, shit would be crazy, maybe studio NUT might still be doing it who knows.

This episode was stupid and annoyingly frustrating. 1st half of the episode, the war is over Tanya, you're wrong, even though you've been right about so many other things, we are not listening and we're gonna usurp your troops. 2nd half the episode, Oh no this is exactly what Tanya said. smh

She never got a chance to talk to the people in charge. This is more a failure of bearucracy/chain of command which is often ineffecient. "Fog of war" There is uncertainity, stop gaps, and failures in communication which prevent most armies from taking the best actions frequently.
