I like how the hermit name drops himself as Musashi Miyamoto and then just acts like that doesn't mean something to most Samurai. It's not like he's one of the most famous Samurai to ever exist. I was also wondering what year in the Edo period the show takes place. If that truly is Musashi it would be around 1630ish. Random things to know but good to know.

There was an entire episode about Izsaac Titsingh, who lived in in the late 1700s. And Hishikawa Moronobu from the 1600s. And other episode said Oda Nobunaga's still alive (1500s), immediately after saying Miyamoto Musashi "died ages ago". The show just takes place in "Edo period Japan" and doesn't care about the date beyond that. It's like the PBS show Liberty's Kids, where those damn kids were 10 years old for like 300 years worth of historical events.
