Interestingly i personally love the few episodes that are "random" as was stated lol mainly because every episode has major influences or homages to the creator's inspiration from pop culture all the way from movies to obviously music, and the very prominently "stand alone" episodes like this allow that to shine; this one happens to be their very well done homage to Alien; because let's be honest, Alien was the 1st movie that essentially established the realistic and grounded concept of intergalactic space travel (Although It obviously drew it's own inspiration from Star Wars episode IV: A new Hope) which is still used today; it pretty much started the vision of "truckers in space" and when integrating the lawless "wild west" feel of the original Star Wars trilogy into that concept you've got the basic concept of Cowboy Bebop right in front of you lmao Also look forward to a couple more very bizarre but iconic random episodes like this still to come full of homages to other iconic media

Fun story: first time I watched this episode I had just eaten some food that was sus from being in the fridge for too long. I literally got sick after the episode ended 😂

Just my thoughts.... ep centered around "food poisoning" The crew was poisoned by rotten food "fungi/bacteria". No need for an antidote, just let it run its course. Same way you would if you actually got sick. Its actually kind of cool how they turned it into a ep.
