Meruem agreed cause he knows the Royal Guards are ABSOLUTELY loyal to him. They would NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER do anything to harm him. Their bond is stronger than anyone's on earth. Stronger than parent/child, friendship, siblings. Even stronger than Gon and Killua's relationship because it's carved into their DNA.

Even with Pitou dead, though, if they found her body and the King consumed her, he would undoubtedly gain some measure of the residual nen from her corpse. Considering how powerful the royal guards are, that residual nen is probably quite a bit more energy than even a high tier nen user. Imagine how much more powerful he would get. And I figure there would also be quite a few of the people chosen from the "selection" which would prove to be less-than-useful for the King's ends, but would serve as a bracing snack, further empowering him with each meal. It's probably good it ain't gonna happen. World War III would just be Meruem alone versus the entire military force of the world...
