Super bummed its over. 10/10 series for me personally, there wasn't a single episode that was not enjoyable. One day gonna have to revisit with our daughter once she's old enough to understand! Thank you all for taking this ride with us, it's been epic and I'm glad I never watched as a kid because there are so many layers to the show and so much to appreciate.  Korra reactions begin this week!!

I personally would give it an 8/10 because you don’t really notice it watching through the first time but this series has plot holes that weren’t really wrapped up and it sadly came to an abrupt end. I think they were forced to end it sooner than they wanted based on some hearsay I came across over the years but I am not completely sure. If Nickelodeon really did force them to end it early I will forever shit on them for it.

Well I am talking about the actual animated series so they never adapted the questions about Zukos mother (even though they made it in the book) and they never wrapped up Azulas story cause the last thing we know in the animated series is she lost to Zuko and was chained up (Even though again they put some context with that into the book). Also the guy with that supposedly teaches Aang about chakra control and avatar state comes in and out in one episode. A guy who we never met before or have barely any backstory as to why he knows what he knows and we don’t know what happened to him or he never explains how exactly Aang takes control of the avatar state at that one last pivotal moment. His wound hitting a perfectly placed rock allowing him to unlock avatar state AND control it was never a good explanation for me. If you can counter these few things that I come up with off the top of my head then go ahead and tell me. But don’t tell me they put it in a book because I am talking about the animated series and not something they come up with later to put into a book. This isn’t all the plot holes and flaws I can think of though they are just the ones that I can put out right now.

Yeah the answers you want are in the comics. And for korra all I will say without spoiling is that it's simply different than avatar. So don't expect it to be the same. But the show is fantastic.

I agree that there are definitely plot holes. The lion turtles are definitely revered as important spiritual figures in the lore evidenced by how they show up periodically in the story but they definitely could’ve delved deeper into them instead of showing us one at the very end. In my opinion, Aang unlocking and controlling the avatar state, makes complete sense. He almost mastered the avatar state by manually unlocking his chakras with guru pathik's help. He had just entered the avatar state when azula killed him and physically sealed off his seventh chakra. Katara saved his life with the spirit oasis water but, aang spent about a month in a coma reconnecting with his four past lives to heal the avatar spirit. The avatar state was sealed by a physical injury but, because it's a defense mechanism, it activated when that spot got hit again and the blocked energy was released. Like if you broke your arm and while it was healing, someone punched it as hard as they could. He had already almost mastered it. He just couldn't get back into it but once he did, all he would've had to do was open the seventh chakra, and he would have control over the avatar state. The odds of him getting hit directly in that spot were low but, not so low as to be impossible. Especially with them being in such a jagged rocky environment.

Idk if you guys caught it but during the taking of Ozai's bending, Aang almost died there. Basically Ozai's energy was taking him over and if Aang's energy didn't win at the last second, no more Aang. But yeah I've seen this series probably no less than 60 times and it's still a 10

Korra's okay but not too great. Just a heads up if you loved the martial arts of bending it's gone. Now it's just a street fighter style. If you like fleshed-out characters and funny jokes it's gone. It's just now a teen rom-com with bad jokes. Did you like evil villains with bad intentions they're gone. Instead, try villains where you know more of their backstory than actual reasons they fight and their stupid philosophies. But there are some cool moments and action sequences, but all in all, ALAB is way better.

that wasn't aang that tried to kill ozai, it was his avatar state. when he unlock his avatar state, the episode changed from aang's struggle with ozai, TO aang's struggle with the avatar state. The avatar state is not just 'aang' its like a combination of all the avatar. He 'won' over this struggle when he slowly turn off his avatar state starting from his hand unglowing, then other parts, signifying that he's winning over the avatar's intent to kill ozai, to aang being back himself, and taking out ozai his own way :)

That's not what the rock did though. The shock of hitting that spot triggered his avatar state. The lion unlocked the chakra with energy bending.. which was used in the swamp episode and talked about (or done? I can't remember) in the guru episode. Aang just did the reverse of that, locking the chakras, to take away Ozai's bending. I don't think they were ever gonna talk about Zuko's mom in the show? They were only cleared for three seasons. That wasn't pivotal to the plot.

I do agree that the show is not 10/10 although I enjoyed so much it was one of the best shows out there. In this last battle in particular, I think personally if you think back to the first episode of book 2. The general fong told them that Aang was ready to beat the fire lord with the avatar state alone. And in a way this proved it. Aang lost the battle against the Firelord, understandably since he legit only had less than a year to master 4 bendings. In the end, it was the access to the Avatar state that brought him victory. Although one could argue that his training did help him control the avatar state, in the end, general fong was actually right in a way that the Avatar state was just so broken it doesnt really matter if aang mastered the rest of the elements. Also the fact that azula couldnt melt the chains is either her brain just stopped working, which is possible, or they just forgot cuz with firebending at its peak level, those chains woulda melted by the heat alone. Overall good ending but there were definitely plot holes around the show.

No matter how many times I watch TLA, the ending always leaves me in tears and applauding. Such a damn good show. Now time for Korra!! I’ve only seen Book 1 (and I loved it), so going through the rest of it with you guys will be awesome! Can’t wait!

Fun Fact: While the rest of the series soundtrack used a computer to make the music, they had the opportunity and connections to be able to have a live orchestra record for all four parts of this finale. IIRC, this is according to the audio commentary on the finale.

Whatever you all say. I know what I know and you won't change my mind. This is coming from someone who grew up with the series. This series isn't capable of being a 10/10 no matter what. Plenty of flaws but then again no series is gonna be perfect no matter what it is and perfection is overrated. I just have my gripes with the series and someone who says it is perfect is riding on the dick train. This is also coming from someone who puts ATLA way above Korra. Also to this last comment above me (@Shamar) since you are basically the only reply I fully read I can say you are wrong. It IS a plot hole in the series. It is like some of you people don't know what a plot hole is. They purposely bring up Zuko's mother still being alive and Zuko wants to find out where she is. It is alluding to a whole other arc worth of stuff. They could of easily left that out of the animated series but they put it in AND NEVER make a special or make another few episodes to resolve that open ended question. They put it into a book but when you just simply watch the animated series like everyone mostly only bothers with it leaves an entire hole in the plot of the story. Hence why it is called a PLOT HOLE. Also to say they answer stuff in Korra is stupid because it is almost a completely separate series and story line with the exception of having correlation with some of the main characters but by the time Korra roles around the original storyline doesn't have much meaning anymore. The literal definition of a plot hole is something that is inconsistent with a character or narrative. The guy Aang meets is not given any actual background info. and we meet him for one episode and never see him again. We also NEVER get information on the lion turtles so all we basically know is that they live long as fuck. Saying you get more info in Korra isn't enough when you get this game changing power from a random lion turtle we know nothing about IN ATLA. They could have gave us more of a characterization of the guy that literally helps him do one of the biggest things in the story which is unlocking control of the avatar state. They could of also gave more information on lion turtles BEFORE we find out Aang magically got this end game power of taking bending away just from his random encounter with the turtle. It is also just too random to have him hit his wound and unlock avatar state control because of that happening without any explanation. I enjoyed the series a lot but I don't look past the problems it has. If I had more time and went back I could find more than just these but I don't want to bother with it.

The last airbender is just one of those series where you can watch it over and over and it'll never get old. glad you guys are gonna watch korra, cause it'll give me an excuse to finally finish it since I've only seen the first two seasons. Idk if you guys have seen it yet, but I'd also highly recommend watching Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood. As well put together as TLA's narrative is, I think FMAB might take the cake as the best of the best for me, and I'd love to see you guys react.

I can be persuaded on certain things but my views on how the series should have went won't be changed no matter what. Ok if it isn't a plot hole then it is "flaws". But explain to me something that happened on this episode where Katara "freezes" Azula in the ice. Are you telling me Azula couldn't fire bend in the process of Katara freezing and changing the ice to water? Didn't Zuko fire bend in the northern water tribe episodes while he was under ice and surrounded by ice cold water? They literally made a whole thing about having the breath of fire to save Zuko while under these harshly restraining and ice cold temperatures. You can't tell me Azula couldn't fire bend when she got frozen or while she was simply moving in the water with Katara changing the ice to water to allow her to move. Is that not what is known to be a "plothole" or "inconsistency" with the logic the storyline has established? If I am wrong to say those are "plotholes" than it is still flaws with the series either way.

I love this episode so much just the little shit makes it so amazing like how when aang creating his death ball he’s creates a ton of each element and squeezes it down into smaller pieces like with the rocks he pulls up giant boulders and crushes them down the size of like hand sized rocks which is why when he dies the Gatling gun it explodes so much like aangs avatar state is so goddamn powerful it’s amazing... and all the korra haters chill tf out it’s not as good as atla that’s a given but the shows fine at the very least you can’t argue that the animation isn’t beautiful and watching it with the goat @YaBoyRoshi will be fun... also lastly korra is way weaker than aang don’t @ me it’s a fact haha excited for the reactions to come

First of all, most of the things you brought up are conveniences not plot holes. I agree they could have done better foreshadowing the lion turtles (not just their existence but energy bending). For Azula...did you forget how messed up Azula's state of mind was during that fight? She was not thinking logically so why would you expect her to easily free herself. Also that comparison with Zuko and Azula doesn't work. Zuko could still physically move and Azula's entire body got frozen with Katara.

Huh, so Aang never actually mastered the 4 elements. Avatar State just took over until Aang had enough control to take Ozai's bending away. Low key, all of his training prior to this encounter was pointless. You could've put ep 1. Aang in this final episode and the only difference is Ozai would've been killed.

Im sure a lot of people have told you this but Korra is a different type of show. While the main character is the avatar and it takes place after Aang. Expect a different vibe, and story. I think its a good sequel to ATLA. All I can say is I hope you guys love Korra as much as ATLA. I hope after the new live action Avatar, they make an animated series for the avatar after Korra. This is the one series I want Neflix to milk but only if the original creators want to continue.

I was really happy to follow your adventure with ATLA ! It changed my life and I like seing people live the same adventjre as I did :) Concerning Korra, yes it is different wirh the same basics but for me personnally, I cried a lot during Korra and the problems are more mentally charged and emotionnally packed. Eventhough you have the same lightness as ATLA at he beginning, the show turns "serious" rapidly. I reccomend it of course ! ATLA was once in a life incredible show but Korra is really something too :) Anyways thank you so much for the series I love you 3 and youve been a blessing durimg quarantine !

So happy I got to re-experience ATLA with you guys! One of the greatest animated shows of all time, hands down. Korra hits differently but in my opinion in a good way: It taps into darker and more mature themes, almost as if the show grew up with the original audience that watched ATLA. I watched LoK when it initially came out and I have to say, regardless of production issues, the series was solid and for my age at the time, it really spoke to me much like ATLA did when I was a kid. Anyway, looking forward to seeing your reactions to LoK and can't wait to see more of the content you got coming up! :)

I've watched this series about 7 times, this being the 8th. Every time I watch it I find new enjoyment and understanding of the layers that went into developing, creating, and concluding this amazing show. Even me, about to approach 20 years of age, I'm still in awe when I see the material arts playing it's role into the bending of the elements. This by far is the greatest kids/now grown up adults show ever to be created. I never seen YaBoyRoshi before now, but watching your reactions made it feel like watching it for the first time and I new I had to subscribe to get the full experience. In a couple of years, I will be watching this again, my wife will be watching this, my son will be watching this, my daughter, my grandchildren, even my in laws. Avatar now and will always be a Legendary series.

Only reason Azula lost is because she was off her game for one and also the fact throughout the entirety of the series its been stupid plot points to make her lose a fight or she gets 1 to 4ved. She didn't really lose against Katara because what was stopping her from just melting the ice? Not to mention she has blue flames which they make look like red flames is equal to blue ass flames throughout the whole series on top of nerfing the fire nation.
