Also I think I heard somewhere or from someone online that these two episodes are what inspired Yugioh to become a manga/anime 😂 Something about the intensity of playing card games in an anime fashion or something like that. Not sure if its accurate

He's said it before, there's a lot that could be done to pretty much guarantee wins (in a lot of cases, not all) but Jojo shouldn't be taken as seriously as some people do, especially the fights. Jojo fights aren't big brained like people say, they are asspulls that barely slide because of how far they stretch powers.

And it's all for the sake of upping the entertainment value, it's more important in this case to create fun, unique scenarios than to have the chess like shounen battles that are more common today. It's also good to note that when people praise Jojo's "big brain" battles they are generally not talking about part 3, it's either part 2 or the more recent ones where "stands" as a power sistem is more figured out by the author.

Yeah, part 3 stands are pretty much pure entertainment value. Part 4 is a weird in-between thing where it flipflops around about how serious it wants to be (and all the heroes' stand powers don't pretty much amount to different flavors of hitting things really hard). Part 5 is where the stands finally become a fully fleshed out power system and it really does take some really creative thinking to counter enemy stand powers (and all the heroes' stand powers become even more... bizarre, and start getting some really unique applications).

I would love to see more chess like battles. ik this is a complete side note here - I've been hunting for animes/manga/books like Hunter x Hunter (specifically, the Chimera Ant palace battles) and the Ainz Ooal Goal vs Shalltear fight from Overlord. Any recommendations?
