That siege to the palace was true squad goals. Just a reminder of how OP the benders in Team Avatar really are. It's only been a month since Aang started Earth bending and he's almost pulling the same feats as Toph.

I know y'all are way past this, but the earth kingdom is highly modeled after ancient imperial chinese dynasties, especially the more insular ones. The entire world philosophy of the government was the separation between the external and internal, and the royal palace city was supposed to be a microcosm of the external domain of the king. Anyways yeah it wasn't really uncommon for some of the emperors of later dynasties to have like no interaction with the world outside their ministers

It's really interesting to see how the four nations are all somewhat inspired by real life countries. As you said, the earth kingdom is modeled after imperial china, even the names and all. The fire nation seems awfully similar to imperial japan as well. Zuko and Azula are Japanese based names if Im not mistaken. Also, during the Imperial era of Japan, the country or military rather were quite expansive and were ambitious in taking over other countries. God this show was amazing. Ofc when i first watched the show as a 10 yr old, all this stuff didnt even pass my mind. But now looking back, there was so much more to the show

Aang and the gang at this point have full trust in each other. That push inside the castle was epic, but sokka still gets worried lol (based on his eyes about to pop out his head when he saw that statue coming towards them. Also, i dont think they were trying to hide the drill, because the king doesnt even go to the outer wall, but rather doing construction to dismantle it based on the size.
