Yeah he can use all of the other elements while in the avatar state because his previous lives already mastered them over many lifetimes but has to learn them individually because he can’t use them on his own yet. Also because he would die in the avatar state if he were to just use it just for the sake of fast tracking having to learn the other elements

Actually regarding Horikoshi of MHA. Someone actually posed the question if he watched Avatar due to Zuko and Todoroki's similarities but he answered he never even heard or watched Avatar.

This episode was great because it showed how desperate this war has made everyone. From the Earth Kingdom general to Zuko wanting to go home to Aang knowing he has a short time limit to master the elements. I love how this season is written.

NOPE. Horikoshi has previously stated he never knew anything about ATLA. I even thought that for a while but I was wrong. He was asked about the close resemblance between MHA and ATLA but he openly responded with not knowing what it was. Apparently it is all coincidence. I don't really see a reason why he would lie either because he is very expressive when it comes to American comics and creations. He said some of his favorite heroes who he drew inspiration from was Goku and Spiderman and loved a lot of other American comics. He is even very open about liking stuff like Star Wars and those other books. You can easily tell how much of a fan he is from the names he uses and very recently in the anime with the play he added in with the festival. I honestly couldn't think of a reason as to why he would lie about never knowing about ATLA.... But that is hella similar and weird not gonna lie lol....

Regarding Kohei Horikoshi taking inspiration ATLA, according to a question he answered during an interview he's never seen ATLA. Which is nuts because the similarities between the two are so distinct that it's been a popular fan theory that Todoroki was inspired by Zuko and of course the similarities between OFA and the Avatar

I dont know if you guys care about the fighting styles, but everything from the hand motions to the footwork relates to a different martial art based on the elements. This show is pure martial art porn. Every angle and hand and foot placement is perfect. Aang's evasiveness is so smooth :o, but Azula has the very best combination style of fighting. There is one more lady coming up that even surpasses her in martial art techniques, but its far ahead in episodes. Cant wait.

Also I believe Aang has to learn the how to bend the element first before he can use it in the avatar state. Otherwise he would've been fucking shit up using the other elements in his past avatar triggers.

The one main difference between the avatar state, and one for all is that one for all is passed down through choice, and the next user normally has mo connections to the past. In avatar, it is a literal reincarnation, so aang is roku, and kiyoshi, and so on. Hopefully you guys watch legend of korra after this. Its also an amazing show. Not as great of a storyline, but the animation, and fight scenes, are amazing. And it also delves deeper into what the avatar state is.

It wasn’t even written by the same team. Sure the creators were the same, but Aaron and the rest of the writing staff came up with so much of the original story and what the new team came up with was just trash in comparison

Avatar was always the co-creators take on anime and what they thought a western anime would be like. As a result they drew a lot for various anime as well as Japanese and eastern mythology and philosophy. Horikoshi has said he’d never heard of avatar before so it’s likely that both creators drew from some of the same sources when creating characters

That’s exactly why it isn’t an anime, this show doesn’t use those annoying tropes and cliches. I don’t see anyone claiming American Dragon: Jake Long to be an anime, both shows have Asian influence and are made in America. Weebs claim ATLA is an anime because it’s great

Once you ignore the nostalgia factor TLoK actually holds it's own, it has ups and downs but a lot of that comes from being less episodic imo than ATLA is. Being as time jumpy and episodic as ATLA works even as you get older because of just the sheer amount of attention to detail and the show aging with it's viewers. Thus pacing and development completely differ. That and TLoK both adds a lot to the lore but also falls into some tropes ATLA avoided or mocked. Comparing the two is pointless is what I'm getting at as they're two different methods of telling stories with similar foundations

my hero actually takes a lot of inspiration from xmen, particularly new mutants. if you read the manga there are interviews/blerbs by the creator about how much he loves the xmen. he even put in some xmen fan boys as side characters in his spinoff series "my hero: vigilantes". cyclops, colossus and wolverine are his faves

Avatar Roku made it clear at the end of the episode that the Avatar state should only be used as a last resort, because if you are killed while in the Avatar state the cycle of reincarnation stops and the Avatar will literally cease to exist. Meaning, of course, that Aang would be the last Avatar, which would be very, very bad. So every Avatar has to relearn the 4 elements themselves so they don't have to risk ending their cycle of reincarnation by relying on the Avatar state.

Korra explained further why it's a drawback. Killing an avatar in the avatar state is basically killing Rava's light spirit.
