Ok, next prediction. The hunters have arrived on the island. So far the chimera ants have been devouring "normal" people. People that are not substantially powerful at all. Now that we have groups of hunters on the island Nen is the new variable. Feeding humans with a good amount of Nen to the Queen will cause whoever the King is to be extremely powerful. No spoilers of course, this is just where I think this is going lol. Fun to speculate. Also this Koala is a major problem lol.

To answer your question about the Koala (not a spoiler), he's simply using water pressure. Man's blowing into a gourd that has a little bit at the bottom weakened and building up the pressure to launch it like a bullet. Also, remember Nen is invisible to people who can't use Nen.

This is going to be a very long story arc. It's almost half the anime lol.

HowardisBoss

Yeah this arc was like a little over 130 chapters in the manga, so this arc is even longer than Dressrosa in One Piece. When you account for the breaks the manga had this arc took 8 years to complete. Started in 2003 and ended in 2011.

TheToweringOtakunt

Yeah, they never really did get around to explaining the guy's water attack in the show. I don't know if they did in the manga, either. But I think the way it works is he just takes a swig and spits the water at people with enough force that it mimics a bullet. The gourd seems to just be a canteen with no special features. Gourds of this type have been used as canteens and flasks by Japanese for centuries.

Viela Guay

Ah yeah that's the other possibility, I was just basing that around what looks like a little cuttout for the bullet the gourd looks to have in the bottom (14:05) and that the gourd always seems to be raised when he fires.

Hunter x Hunter is well known for going on long hiatus due to the health of the author. If curiosity strikes you, here's a link to a weekly hiatus chart for HxH since its inception in 1998: https://hiatus-hiatus.github.io/

If you want to know what the Koala is doing in this episode without us telling you, i'd suggest going back and watching a scene where he kills someone at a slower video speed. The whole thing is animated well enough to show what's going on, it just happens quickly.

Hypemaster

I always took it be just a testament to how strong the chimera ants' anatomy allows them to be, where even a simple act of spitting water can be destructive.

Viela Guay

I mean in either case it's a feat that requires godly powerful lungs so it serves that purpose anyways.

Viela Guay

He probably has some archer fish genes mixed into him. That fish that uses projectile water to hunt insects.
