The black zoltraak was the original human killing one the demon Qual created which was shown back in episode 4. The white zoltraak that's commonly used was repurposed from the original to be especially effective against demons instead. It'd make sense for clone Frieren to use a juiced up black zoltraak since elves count as humans and she looked like she was trying to bring the fight to it's finale.

I think other than that, he only appeared like 2 other times, 1 where he was naked in that bathtub reading and the other where he hid in a corner somewhere during the exam

The demon Qual that made Zoltrac was sealed about 80 years ago. So he was a serious problem back then. Even when he came back and Freiren was talking mad shit about how fast humans progressed, Qual immediately analyzed the modern defensive spells and was gonna lay down the law, but Freiren ended him quick before he could.

The spell Frieren used we don’t have much info on even later on in the manga but it’s some kind of typeless force magic that can’t even be detected or conceived like fully invisible. Her comment suggests the last time she had to use that spell was against the demon lord and as far as we can tell it requires some kind of setup (which is the opening that let frieren kill the clone) so presumably the original party probably defended frieren whilst she charged up that spell to hit the demon lord.

Yeah, he was the bathtub guy. I don't think he got folded though. Rather, he ran out of time - the golems were set to break the bottles on their own after a set amount of time if you didn't reach the finish line. I was lowkey expecting him to weasel his way into enjoying the fruits of everyone else's labor, but I guess that wasn't meant to be. 🤣

Burg (the first-class mage that got killed) was overconfident about his Immovable Cloak spell. Then again he probably think the worst situation would be a pretty strong mage knocked him out of the stage or something like that. Dude never think that his strongest spell was cut through like butter. It was a shame too, because it was shown in Ubel vs Wirbel battle that defensive spell can block her cutting spell, but Ubel left him no chance to activate it in time to save himself.

Essentially, nearly all mages cannot create magic from nothing. I forget who was talking about it but basically if fire wasn't real, you can't just make fire. The whole concept of visualization is key. However, some mages. and I do mean less than a handful, can do it. Frieren's clone used an invisible attack. An attack created out of nothing. Shinra Tensei'd her ass. I could be wrong in how I explain it. But just shows that Frieren isn't telling Fern all her secrets and probably never will. Also, I never wanna see Frieren look that mad again. Demon King probably shit his pants seeing that look.

Wait what? That's not how cause and effect works. She didn't kill him because she didn't follow the rules.... that literally is her not following the rules. Not following the rules is what she did, and she was disqualified because of it. Disqualification is the effect, the killing is the cause... not following the rules is also the cause, because killing is not following the rules. It's not rocket science. It's also worth mentioning that one should be able to tell that she underestimated her own strength, given what she said after she cut him in half. So she literally didn't purposefully kill him (not saying that excuses it, just so you understand what ACTUALLY happened and the character).

Yeah, you're right. Imagining a spell alone wont cut it, you need to figure out perfectly how it should work and the theories behind it before applying it in battles. Ubel is a special case while her spell should not work against the cloak or Sense's steel like hair, but since she always consider things like fabric or hair can be cut, she somehow cut through them with ease. Since we viewers also view clothes or hair can be cut, we can easily think Burg's or Sense's defeat was inevitable. But if we thought about some other aspects, like no one went like "oh shoot, let's glue him up real quick" or "let's rewind time to save his life" when Burg was killed. Yeah I know this is purely theoretical and he was f*cking chopped in half but hey, who know if there was someone even crazier than Ubel think like that and actually create spell to connect severed limbs or rewind time 🤣

Flamme's magic is so fascinating in light of all this emphasis on visualization. Just as Ubel visualizes cutting, Flamme visualizes tiny seeds growing into epic things. The tree, the citywide force field, etc. If she couldn't visualize the end result in detail, they're saying her magic would have failed, so she must have been able to visualize it...which is insane. It's also interesting to think of Frieren as a seed Flamme planted to kill the demon king.

Go look up frieren wiki in the plot detail settings, Flamme admitted herself frieren had significantly more mana than her, the only thing flamme has over frieren is experience and even that isnt enough when taking into account frieren has lived and fought for over maybe 600-800 years( not 1000 years cus that means this bitch has been fighting since she in infant) . Frieren at her current state is the second strongest magician if it is only the "good" side, In terms of by the books, magic is like they said is rock paper scissor, even the great serie can lose if given the right circumstances. But if u take into account of the evil characters in this world it is contestable due to characters like macht and the other demal king generals. Dont chat shit. Übel accidentally killed Burg. She wanted to pass. From what I understand, Übel uses a loophole to cut through things like the Immovable Cloak and Sense’s hair. Everyone layers defensive magic over everything, and that’s what everyone else focuses on. But the magic is only layered across the objects, and anchored to them. They don’t actually make the objects themselves invulnerable. Because everyone focuses on the magics, they can’t get to the objects that they’re anchored to. Übel slips through all that by focusing solely on the objects she wants to cut. It’s not something that anyone who isn’t neurodivergent can do.

I don't think its been mentioned yet so imma say it. this was an amazing field test for the bottle golems. remember they aren't on the market yet. its a new magic item they were testing out in the second test. i'd say they did really well. they get you out the dungeon quickly, they protect you from attacks while doing so, AND they have healing magic. i'd for sure by myself one for my next dungeon delve. Speaking of the spell that Frieren cast that she hasnt used in 80 years (the one that almighty pushed Fern and broke her staff against the wall).... judging by the time, in all likelihood, the Demon King himself was the last time something forced her to use that attack. Goes to show just how much of a monster the Demon King was if he was pushing Frieren to her limits while also fighting Heiter, Eisen, and Himmel.
