2024-02-10 23:14:56 I love the double entendre of this title. The literal hole and the metaphorical. Things fall apart, they fall apart so hard, and you can't ever put them back the way they were, as Tara said.

How many times has the Buffyverse done this to us now? Innocence, The Body, Seeing Red, Hero, Tomorrow, Awakening... hell, Passion fits this cruel formula too. Things are finally looking up after a long and miserable build-up, then something insurmountable and heartbreaking occurs, often someone dying. I am vibing so much with your empathy for Gunn. The narrative seems to be that he had a significant role to play in Fred's death, and you know he'll be wrecked with guilt thinking the same. But they all choose to work for Wolfram and Hart. They've all signed off on seemingly mundane administrative things that likely led to the vicious demise of someone innocent since its freaking Wolfram and Hart. Gunn signing off on the customs papers is no different from what Angel, Wesley or even Fred herself had been doing on a daily basis for months now. On a lighter note... the Angel/Spike material was off the charts in this episode! They were one millisecond from from an anger kiss when Wesley walked into the office. And, those were two run in the mill demons at the deeper well entrance that either Angel or Spike could have taken down solo. The absolute and transparent gall to make them hold hands for their tactic was funny.

This was easily the worst though. Though its also well done and kinda makes sense so I can watch it. Unlike seeing red
