Well, folks, today was a happy day! (Here in the US, at least!) We're turning the page, and to celebrate, here's a preview of what I've been doing.

I'm almost done with my first new texture/look made using (a legit copy of) (updated) Substance Painter. Leia will be released for you guys early while I work on her sister, Lillian, and undoubtedly polish her more, then they'll go public as a pair.

The new workflow is fantastic. The tool is exactly what I need for texturing. It doesn't solve the problem of reference material - Leia is cobbled together from about 35 texture samples I had to hunt down (the most time consuming) and individually prep in GIMP, which would be much easier with a photogrammetric reference photo set. And to do a really thorough job, I'd want perhaps twice as many. But I'm pretty happy with how she's coming along.

Let me know what you think in the comments, if you see any flaws to fix.

And yes, Jaina and Ephraim won the poll officially, but I started on Leia while she was still ahead in votes, and I had to start texturing with SP so I hope nobody feels it's too unfair to get a couple of ginger sisters first. ;)

For you, my friend, yes! (Technical note: the hair in the pic above is both textured and sim. Adding a photo above so you can see.)
