I'm sure you've heard of Midjourney, one of the amazing AI image generators that have been making waves recently. It's a tool like Dall-E, Night Cafe and Artbreeder, all of which can generate images from text prompts we humans provide.

Last week Brian has performed a little miracle on our WP Guru Discord server: he's added the ability for all of us to use Midjourney without signing up with anything else. It's highly addictive and we've had a ton of fun with it already. Take a look at the above images for a tiny selection of what people in our super creative little community have come up with, just by typing text. 😍

If you want to give it a go, head over to the #midjourney channel on our Discord, then type /imagine (press enter to bring up the prompt message), then type anything like this:

  • a dark house in the middle of the countryside
  • giant shirehorse with pink ribbons and a pretty lady Monet style
  • rainy afternoon in New York cyberpunk style
  • an orange dress with a purple flower
  • Las Vegas at night in black and white

Type in what you like and you'll see four variations appear:

If you like to "shuffle" what the bot did, click the refresh icon to generate another selection from the same description. To enlarge any of the masterpieces, use the U buttons (U1 and U2 would upscale the top left and top right images, U3/U4 would upscale the bottom left/right ones).

To launch another attempt based on the direction of a particular piece, use the V buttons (V1 would create a new selection based on the top left image for example). You can upscale/refresh your own prompts, or use those from other users. It's so much fun to see these images "develop" in front of your eyes and see what we all come up with.

There are a ton of parameters we can use, like styles and aspect ratios, all of which are explained in the Midjourney User Guide. Since it is an external service, you'll have to accept their terms and conditions upon first  use.

Quick word of warning: this is super addictive, it's extremely fun and you'll burn through your free credits in no time! When this happens, you can give Midjourney some cash and continue making images.

Give it a go for free, have some fun and see what everyone is talking about! If you have any questions, leave a comment below. Super special thanks to Brian for making this happen. I would have probably never signed up to Midjourney otherwise 😎
