下描き rough

モノクロのヴィンテージ写真、みたいな背徳感ある絵が描きたいと思いスケッチスタート。

下描きが出来たときは「めっちゃ可愛い子描けた！」と思ったけど、完成させた今改めて見ると完成版の方が可愛いしそもそも結構お顔違うのよね。

下描き中はやはり脳内でかなり補完しているのかもしれない。

普段の絵柄だと「下描きと完成画で表情のイメージが違った！」ってことはさすがに少なくなってきたけど、今回のような慣れない絵柄だとぷりっぷりにズレます。

とはいえ「下描きの方が好きだった」なんてことにならずに良かったね。

I started sketching because I wanted to draw a picture that looked like a "vintage black and white photo" with a sense of immorality.

When the rough sketch was done, I thought, ”I've drawn a really cute girl!” But now that I've finished it, I see that the finished version is much prettier, and her face is quite different from the rough. When I'm drawing a normal picture, I don't usually get the feeling that ”the image of her face is different in the rough sketch and the finished picture!” But when drawing an unfamiliar pattern like this one, the difference is quite large. I'm glad I didn't end up liking the rough sketch better.

今回は画風がリアル寄り。

輪郭線は必要に応じて後から強調するため、線画はとりません。

This time, the drawing style is more realistic. I don't do line drawings because I emphasize the outlines afterwards if necessary.

こだわりは目。

The focus this time is on the eyes.

普段の絵柄では黒目の輪郭をはっきり描きますが、透き通るような青い目、それもモノクロ絵でそれを表現するなら黒目はうっすらしているのが好みです。

I usually draw a clear outline of the black eye in my paintings, but if I want to express a clear blue eye in a black-and-white painting, I prefer the black eye to be faint.

仕上げ Finishing

背景を頑張り、色味を調整し、輪郭を強調するフィルターを軽くかけて完成。

ふわっとした輪郭のままでも柔らかくて良かったんだけど、やはり画面がパキっとしてる方が好き――というかもはやパキっとさせないと落ち着かない私。

I worked hard on the background, adjusted the colors, and lightly applied a filter to emphasize the outline, and I was done. It would have been nice to have a soft, fluffy outline, but I prefer to have a clear image. Or rather, I'm no longer comfortable unless I do so.

ちなみに By the way...

SAIというペイントツールで筆を動かし、Photoshopでフィルターをかけて仕上げるというのが私の制作フローなのですが、Photoshopのフィルターにかける前はこんな感じ。

My production flow is to draw with a painting tool SAI, and then apply a filter in Photoshop. This is the image before applying the filter in Photoshop.

普段描かない完全なモノクロ絵、いつもより暗い画面、リアルめの画風、ヴィンテージ調にしたいのでコントラストは低めに抑えつつも画面の見栄えは良くしたい、等々。

慣れない絵で正直途中めげかけたけど、またひとつ私は天国に近づいた。

A completely monochrome picture that I don't usually draw. Darker than usual. Realistic painting style. I want to keep the contrast low because I want a vintage look, but I want the image to look good. etc ...

To be honest, the unfamiliarity of the illustrations nearly destroyed me during the process, but it brought me one more step closer to heaven.
