Toph is one of the best characters. Her peak is awesome. Her level of sass matches Sokka’s humor if not surpasses it.

Like you guys sort of touched on, ATLA does an amazing job of realistically portraying disability with Toph and other characters, like Teo at the northern air temple in book 1. They’re still highly capable, independent people and it’s never looked down on or treated as a nuisance if they need accommodations or help in some situations. The jokes are actually FUNNY without being condescending or ableist. Anyway, Toph is an amazing character and I’m SO excited you finally met her!!! Book 2 definitely steps up the game a bit. Part of what makes the show incredible is how perfectly everything is paced and how each book has such a coherent theme. Book 1 was like you said largely about learning about the world, but also for Aang just coming to terms with his duty as the Avatar. Now they’re getting serious, and besides just learning earth bending, they’ll have to start thinking about an actual plan for facing the fire lord.

Omg, ladies and gentlemen, IT IS TIME! Forget about the three books. The only right way to categorize Avatar is by AT and BT. Before Toph and After Toph. Seriously she is so goated its not even funny

Who needs the Avatar when you have Toph to bring the firelord down? 😤🤣🤣
