Creating a global supergroup is a mammoth task. It was interesting to hear from Simon who spearheaded the project. His vision was clear : 'To create a group with a strong character...that has a clear message and vision, global sensibility, and can be loved by anyone, regardless of language or culture.'

Knowing that the whole world would have its opinions, he adds... 'Instead of defining what is and isn't KPOP...it's our job to have them accept and enjoy our presence'.

I can't help but feel that by him having a Japanese mum and Korean father, this isn't just a creative endeavour or business, it's personal.  He has a burning desire to create a group whose music would bridge cultures. He continues, 'so this is something that I believe to be my destiny...I wanted this all-Japanese Group to be accepted by Koreans.'

As for the girls, these teenagers were thrust into a whole new world - a world of rigorous training, intense competition, and they had to make sacrifices - experiencing what most people their age don't have to.... all in the pursuit of their dreams.

Can't wait for part 2.

Simon wasn’t an Olympian, but participated in ISAC (Idol Star Athletics Championships) during his time as an idol with DMTN. He certainly has the Olympian mentality!

Seoulful Notes

Ahh thanks for clarifying, I wondered, considering his career in music - absolutely he certainly does! I like him, he really comes across as determined, passionate and supportive (but also no nonsense lol) 🫶🏽
