Unpublished review of Balance of Terror This episode was lactose intolerant because it had no cheese. Cinematography and blocking was so tasteful and rich, so rich. Powerful, like when Kirk stood in that doorway of the bride and it just held for so long, it made for a powerful shot. Most TV shows would never allow that excess of wasting time standing still. That shot was a win for the creative humans behind this episode. The entire episode was a win. I don’t think they did anything this delicious in any of the films. The chess game of a plot, of two captains so similar that they can read the moves of their opponent. Kind of a reverse of the Borg knowing Picard so well. Mark Lenard who played the Romulan Commander, a name that seems familiar from one of my film reviews and if I had to guess, Spock’s father in said film. In this episode Mark Lenard give us a clinic on dramatic theater acting of the stage. So much so, that I was getting Jesus Christ Superstar vibes in all of his scenes. Bones was super dramatic in his scene with his hand lingering on Kirk’s shoulder. I don’t think it is fair to make Uhura’s uniform a shirt and panties unless we make the male uniforms shirts and undies. I suppose the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, eh?

Unpublished review of Galileo Seven Mild cheddar. Balance was better. I like a Spocklight episode but I don’t like everybody being shitty to Spock. What, just because he’s different? CGI was a little chintzy and a little out of place, I suppose if you are going to be out of place you might as well make it amazing. Just felt like a job that didn’t allow enough time to be completed to a level of decent or amazing. Still an improvement from the original effects (I presume). Uhura is a badass. Next filming, you should conduct the orchestration of the intro. Get your John Williams on. 🖖🏻
