Well i guess i can pause my grey's anatomy binge for this lol. The organic webbing in tobys movies was a departure from the comics. It was always a nod to how intelligent peter is that he not only developed web shooters but multiple formulations of webbing for use in various tasks like tazer or acid webbing.
