One of my favorite things about doing this kind of photography is getting to make images of someone while they are experiencing the particular majesty of California for the first time.  My friend Tasha was visiting the US for the first time ever, and started her trip by landing in LA to stay with me and go on a road trip to see some nature.  As someone from Southeast Asia, she hadn't ever experienced places like this. The snow, the epic mountains, the epic trees all rolled into one location, and one that was almost completely empty.  We had trails to ourselves and didn't see another soul most of the time we explored.

The size of her smile as she ran around naked in the snow  really reminded me of how amazing it was the first time I saw, and touched those trees in person, the first time i saw a bear walk by me, or watched my view of the Sierra Nevada Mountains along the High Sierra Trail obliterated unexpectedly as I was enveloped by fog out of nowhere.
