PATRONS - PLEASE NOTE: This Vault Bit Of A Chat with Rene Auberjonois is also being offered to the general public as a $3 digital download. However, as a Patron and as part of your Patron exclusives (all of which can be found HERE), this post has the file attached, just for you. As usual, ***PLEASE DO NOT DISTRIBUTE THE FILE***.  I want to be able to offer more material like this to the general  public (who may be reticent to become a Patron) via the ability to  digitally purchase said releases individually, but as Patrons, please be  assured that any material made available for purchase will ALWAYS be included as part of your Patron package. I deeply and sincerely  appreciate your continued support, and I hope you enjoy the surprises to come.

As promised, this is the first in what I hope to be a series of releases from my unreleased interview archives.

For whatever reason, after having this conversation in 2003 with René Auberjonois (from M*A*S*H, STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE, THE LITTLE MERMAID, BOSTON LEGAL, BENSON, & so much more) - an actor with a long, storied career, who sadly has since passed away -  I just never got around to releasing it.

It's sat in my archive until now, always with a plan to eventually release it… And here it is, finally, for you to hear, because I think you’ll enjoy what René has to say, and to hear his thoughts, in this relatively in-depth conversation that we had so long ago.

But a few caveats you need to know beforehand –

Keep in mind, first and foremost, that this was not intended as a podcast (because there was no such thing as podcasts then). This was a phone interview that I had with him, originally intended for print, which means that from my side of things, don't expect a polished version of me asking these questions. But that's not the focus, anyway - the focus should be on hearing what René has to say. So, all of his side is great. Just understand that it’s a much younger me, not a performer, and certainly not one at that time. So, it lacks a little bit of polish in that way.

Also, regarding the sound quality, this interview was recorded over an analog telephone line into a microcassette recorder, which meant it the original audio has substantial line hum, tape hiss, and the voices were exceptionally tinny. However, through the miracle of modern technology and an extraordinary amount of work, I’ve been able to clean and remix the audio substantially, making for what I hope is a tolerable listening experience and well worth it for this unique, unheard chat. It’s the best that I can make it from really ancient, not-terribly-great source material. But again, I think the content is the important part of this, and I wanted to make sure that this did eventually see the light of day, for people to have a little unexpected time with the wonderful René Auberjonois.  I think having this time with René is worth it, and I hope you do, too.

Thank you for supporting this. There are many more archive interviews to come. I'm busy cleaning and prepping those, so hopefully you enjoy this. Do let me know, and let me know if you're interested in more of these to come, because – like I said - I've got a lot more with a lot of great folks.
