I just realized something... When Tony was instructing Bruce what to do... when he was about to use the gauntlet. Tony said something like... okay bring everyone back that became dusted but don't touch the last 5 years. Because Tony wanted to make sure his daughter would be okay. So this means they basically sacrificed Vision. Because he was not dusted, his forehead was crushed by Thanos. This above all else is why Vision does not come back. There is another reason why Vision doesn't come back and it's because of the timeline thing - technically no one that died of normal causes (not dusted) does not come back - except through the alternate timeline such as Gamora. The reality is "our timeline" is unchanged - these are all dead: Vision, Natasha, Loki, Heimdall, both Thor's parents, Gamora, Tony, the ancient one, Peggy... and anybody else who wants to raise their hand. The folks from the other timeline are separate from "our timeline" for example Gamora from there is alive but not Nebula, not Thanos no... but other Cap yes, etc. (It got complicated there, but not too complicated)

an odd thought... Tony dusted Thanos and his goons... but did he also dust Gamora-2? Would Tony know not to dust her? I don't think we saw her after that (and I don't want to re-write anything in the story) so the answer is we don't know. It's possible but unlikely but also we don't know for sure. Probably not because of clause-b.

So many great callbacks in this movies. A few of them being Hope saying, "We're on it, Cap!" when she had made fun of Scott for referring to him as Cap before. A few movies ago, it was "We haven't met yet, I'm Clint." "I don't care" but in this movie it was "Clint, give it to me!" And of course, Sam arriving on the scene by telling Cap "On your left." A bunch more that I can't remember, but others will probably point them out. 🙂
