While Dr. Kidan's infamous quantum clock was able to cause jumps and general divergences in the timeline, the quantum microclock is a device dedicated to recording detailed state information of complex quantum structures such as sapient life forms. Quantum microclocks are used in concert with the Destiny Explorer's resynthesis portal to record the states of scanned 'explorers' and then 'replay' the state into the portal mechanism in order to recover and 'restore' the subjects into new, 100% biogel bodies regardless of distance or time that has passed.
