I kinda figured the protomolecule is like the one ring. Everyone knows it’s destructive potential, but they figure that if they can just control that power they can win. Only in this world there is no wizard to try and keep things on a narrow tract that may win the day. The one little ring locked in a small moon till it emerged into the light and set the whole world to war.

I like when you point out great CGI, as it reminds me (many times!) how so believable this show is! Fantastic behind the scenes teams making it as amazingly real as possible. The sound of the impact on South America was fantastically good in my head phones. I had forgotten how the sound is enhanced that way. Great reaction and life the above commentors, can't wait for the next three, especially Triple Point!
