Unpopular opinion, but I don't ship Elena with *anyone*, LOL. So the romance stuff with her leaves me cold regardless of how much steam they put into it. That said, this episode was really good at keeping the different storylines moving forward, and of course, it was great to see Rose, Jeremy, and Tyler again. I'm not a romantic by nature (that's fairly obvious! 😄), but if I ship anyone, it's Tyler and Caroline. I do get invested in their turbulent relationship, seeing how much they care for each other but always driven apart by outside forces and the risk of a Vampire/Werewolf relationship. I'm the weirdo fan of the series who doesn't actually like Elena *or* Stephan as characters very much; however, there is a wealth of characters in this show, so there is something for everyone. I'm craving to see those layers of Klaus again, now that we've had a taste of who he can be when he's not being bitter, angry, and vengeful. I hope we see it again, that softer, vulnerable, artistic side. We know he is as desperate as Rebekah is to be loved, but both of them poison their own well and push everyone away. I'm curious what will become of them. I'm not even hinting, because I genuinely don't remember! It's been ages since I've seen this series, and I've only gone past Season 2 once, so this is now a fresh re-watch for me. I've forgotten more than I've remembered.

Personally, I think that Elena's conflict is that she *does* know how she feels. But she doesn't want to accept it because of the guilt, loyalty to Stefan... because what she wants isn't the appropriate choice in everyone's eyes. Rose sees it. Love that she's rooting for Delena. A few episodes ago, in 3x16, Matt asked her why these vampires. And I'm not saying that she doesn't love Stefan... she absolutely does. But her answer for Stefan was... that he made her feel safe, after the loss of her parents, and that he wouldn't die. Those are understandable sentiments... and she needed a guy like Stefan then. But 'safe' and comforting... as lovely as that is... is hardly how you'd describe the love of your life. Whereas she describes Damon as getting under her skin.
